Farewell to John Lasell (1928-2024) — an unsung hero of DARK SHADOWS.
As parapsychologist Dr. Peter Guthrie, he battled the spooky soap's first monster (the phoenix Laura Collins) before vampire Barnabas Collins arrived.
He was also a familiar face for 25 years on shows like THE TWILIGHT ZONE.
It was an honor to moderate a panel at the Sleepy Hollow Film Festival celebrating DARK SHADOWS and the centenary of star Jonathan Frid.
I interviewed cast members Donna Wandrey, Marie Wallace and Sharon Smyth, along w/ Mary O'Leary, producer of DARK SHADOWS AND BEYOND — THE JONATHAN FRID STORY.
This month in 1964 — Jonathan made his Broadway debut!
He was upgraded from understudy to a featured role in ROAR LIKE A DOVE.
