Day 3: Christchurch
A city still rebuilding from the devastating 2010-11 earthquakes Among modern buildings like the Convention Centre (left) many vacant lots are now used as temporary car parks (ugh!). The cathedral (centre rear) is behind scaffolding & painted canvas.

Day 4: Lake Tekapo
A very touristy destination in the mountainous Mackenzie District but nonetheless spectacular as it is virtually encircled by snowy September peaks
A small stone-walled, slate-roofed chapel stands on a knoll amongst tussock grass above the bright blue waters of Lake Tekapo and is ringed by white-capped peaks under a cloudless azure sky
