On #LongCovidAwarenessDay — I think the most important thing to understand is that it’s still happening:
“I got COVID for a 3rd time in 2025 (I'm vaxed, boosted & took paxlovid)... Boom #LongCovid. Can't climb due to PEM. I haven't climbed in almost a year.”
“COVID… is still causing disability.“
It takes relatively little disability to make the rest of the world consider you “disposable.” They won’t say it out loud, but their actions are clear. #DisabilityJustice #LongCovid
We are aware #LongCovidAwarenessDay isn't the easiest of days.
So instead of asking you to do anything we thought we'd give you a present! 🎁

Help us fund covid safe accommodations for our teacher during the Brazilian jujitsu championship
You both look so marvelous! An amazing team-up!
At the beginning of the pandemic some disabled people felt hope.
We saw inclusion and accessibility improve overnight.
We saw accommodations put in place that we had spent years begging for.
We saw the world adapt.
That hope was ripped away during the rush back to normal.
It still hurts.
Trump's health is obviously deteriorating and his appearance along with it.
That's a tantalizingly easy visual metaphor to latch on to.
But at time of weaponized eugenics I really wish folks who otherwise claim liberatory values would know not to reinforce the equation of health with character.
On this year’s long covid awareness day, I want more people to read and think about what the late Shafiqah Hudson said before it killed her. Because she was right, as usual, and also early, as usual. Perhaps too early for a lot of people to listen.
The rise of online vibrant events in early Covid offered a lot of hope for disabled/chronically ill people who have access issues attending IRL events (including going into a flare later). Anti-Zoom reactive sentiment pushed a lot of people into being more isolated again.
I am pursuing the Tagamet/cimetidine protocol, as I did last time, and I think it works. Nonetheless, I could fuckin do without yet another health issue, like all of us.
I am very, very fortunate that all three of my shingles outbreaks have been super-limited, only in the "sword-belt" or girdle area (a tiny stripe at my waist) and drastically less painful than most people get. However, the sensation of an infection in your nerve is still freakishly horrible.
So I was vaccinated with the new shingles vaccine, both doses, in 2022. Last year I had a small shingles outbreak anyway, and now I have one again, despite being on a homebrew IMC-2 of Valtrex and Celebrex. Clearly my body is not operating at ideal parameters despite being Novid. #MECFS
Your green trench is all you need.
Hey guys, I actually wrote some science fiction. It's a capstone to my AI series at Emptywheel, but it takes place in 30 years. COUNTS. emptywheel.net/2026/03/13/w...
Our hope is that this guide provides more clarity around the evidence base behind potential LC treatments, all in one place — that it helps patients evaluate the options available to them, & informs clinicians on the supporting evidence for off-label treatment in #LongCovid. /5
Fantastic release for #longcovidawarenessweek

Lilah is THE BEST so please consider hiring her!
Today is the 36th anniversary of the Capitol Crawl and disabled people are still fighting for basic rights in a society that's actively working to undermine them, surrounded by systemic disablism.
(This is a corrected thread TY to the person who flagged that I said 26th, not 36th!)
GenAI being fundamentally based on a rejection of consent is obvious, but it's not as obvious that it destroys the inhibitions of the people who already reject consent.
It makes them act in public the way they used to only act when cornering their employees by the punch bowl or in their office
There's a vaccine for tick-borne encephalitis in Germany; I got it last year for my collection, from our GP.

It's shocking how common the reaction of many physicians to Long Covid has been "hey, they look like the ME/CFS, POTS and fibromyalgia folks we've dismissed for decades" rather than the obvious, rational "holy fuck that means common infections were the likely cause all along like they reported".
I feel like I have been in grief perpetually the past six years.
I understand death is a part of life but many ghosts I am grieving were young people and also people I knew well. Needless death. COVID, drugs, and alcohol, violence.
What is it like to not feel grief like this I don’t remember.
Also, the main SXSW venue is the convention center which is also covered by the bathroom ban. Trans people cannot safely attend this conference or event. But because 20 states have done this, people stopped giving a shit. It's just normal for them, not even an afterthought.
So please, if you can, I’d love to have this thread list pro-Trans everything. Creators, craftspeople, writers, artists, activists…if you or someone you know deserves some celebrating, bring it the fuck on, okay?
Post links if you can.
Buy stuff if you can.
They hate when people stand up.
I remember that well.
