Academic writing tip: Don’t write alone.

If you’re stuck, bring in a second brain. Ask a friend or colleague to read your draft. 🀝

Talking it out beats staring at your screen. You’ll get unstuck faster, spot what’s not working, and see your ideas more clearly. πŸ’¬ #AcademicSky

Thank you for your feedback! For (1), inserting citations with the keyboard shortcut is faster than point-and-click. If you’re able to email us a quick screen recording of (2), that would help us investigate. We're currently rewriting our citation plugin from the ground up so stay tuned.

Reading a scientific paper early in your career can feel like drowning in acronyms, jargon, and 30 pages of β€œwhat am I even looking for?”

But learning to read papers isn’t a mysterious talent. It’s a skill, and you can train it.

How getting tenure changes researchers’ publication habits β€” and citations Paper output varies between disciplines, as does the trend after tenure is achieved.

Faculty members in all disciplines tend to publish the most in the year before they’re granted tenure.

✍️ Academic writing tip: Study your own writing patterns. Track when you write best, where you’re focused, and what conditions actually help you get words down.

Notice the patterns that already work and lean into them.

I made a little tool to sync my papers in @paperpile.com with @obsidian.md. It generates a markdown file for each paper and should handle annoying things like paper renaming and deletion.

I wish Paperpile would expose more data but the basic paper info gets imported.

Please use, extend, enjoy!
