There is nothing quite like the adrenaline high of teaching Herrick and then sending students off on Spring Break.
A fact I learned a couple years ago that absolutely broke me (and my love of trains) is that airports HATE rail because they make most of their money off parking. Even some major city airports are not on the rail lines for that reason. Like, this plan is LOGICAL but would be fought tooth and nail.
At some point in the past (the 70s?) UA was offered a rail line that ran basically along what is now Jack Warner that they could turn into the start of a commuter / light rail network. They turned it down, but I always wonder about the alternative timeline without a traffic clogged campus.
Single possible counterpoint. I would love to see a Bruce Wayne film where Batman is clearly altering the Gotham events but he is never shown.
I feel this way about my Gen X cohort. And yet, we are shaping up into one of the most conservative generations ever. I just cannot fathom how.
Goddammit. Where are we heading in the next exodus?
For what it is worth, I think that 5 had the most interesting premise that I would have liked to see explored in a trilogy exactly because it leaned into this problem, literally redoing the first film with changes that spiral out into a really interesting examination of the butterfly effect.
Finished teaching and a million errands early enough to get to my kid’s school 30 min early. Had been looking forward to this time as a peaceful space to edit the manuscript…. which I apparently left at home.
I honestly think this might one of Cadillac’s best chances for points. They will catch up on pace as the year progresses (but not enough) so a million DNFs and issues that slows up other competitors may be their shot (with or without mirrors).
Fatality.
What the actual fuck? 3 F-15s to friendly fire?!? Did someone send the DHS over there with another laser?
Not sure if I have ever gone from a "meh" to a "will watch" this quickly, but this is the kind of precisely calibrated endorsement I am looking for.
Just watched Galatea. Might be the best and funniest play The Alabama Shakespeare Project has put in so far. So good.
Watching friends in the Boomer generation on Facebook have their peers suggest AI (particularly Grok 🤮) for finding information. We are so cooked, y'all.
Lost it at the last one. So good.
I have very few real skills, but I am glad to know that my friends all have me as first on their rolodex for when they need someone to make a midnight airport run.
Two sides. Same coin.
No, because the king gets out of check by pushing to A6 and then you lose the pawn, either before or after promotion depending on what you do next.
Despite having three Ls in their name, we have a big W for the Lollards.
That is an epic level of awful. One of the most painful moments of TV ever.
Great example of the rule "you pay the actors for the closeups with no lines."
Yes! The best info / descriptions / details on tombs are always in books from 1880-1930. Shoutout to the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England.
Alabama sky says “trans rights.”
I do not know if it is my own personal issue or my neurospicyness or just being a human, but I hate looking back on a largely positive social evening and only being able to see my 4 or 5 fuckups. Every retrospective is only mistakes to be carried forever.
This. I love the shots, but the screaming whistle rattles my teeth.
I remember back when my kid was 4 hearing his voice from the backseat: "When we get there Dada, don't look at me."
You can bet that I hastily adjusted the mirror to see what he had done.
Sounds likely to be popular. Biggest problem may be length of the rocket list.
Was worried I was too emotionally constipated for a good cry, but I am of course in tears when his first arrow is defensive and full sobbing by “you must see with eyes unclouded by hate”.
