Volunteers from AstraZeneca have been helping Bollin Valley Partnership Ranger Dan to coppice Hazel at Macclesfield Riverside Park. Coppicing involves cutting trees at their base to create a 'stool' where many new shoots will grow. The group also planted some apple and plum fruit trees.

Members of Rode Heath Cub Scouts visited Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve recently to plant Hazel & Rowan saplings. The trees will improve the woodland for nesting birds and provide a winter food source. A total of 280 trees have been planted this winter, all from public donations
