Funnily enough I'm drafting a blog post on the emotions of expectation. @fplhippie.bsky.social please may I pinch this analogy? It's a great discussion starter.

#GW8 4FTs and £2m to play with. Concerns are Wood and Barnes, Arsenal/Chelsea/West Ham to bring in perhaps. Couple of options so far:

1. Wood --> Bowen (play Caicedo)

2. Wood & Barnes --> Bowen & Enzo (bench Caicedo)

or the bonkers...

3. Wood & Barnes & Mbeumo --> Salah & Cullen & Obi

Just to clarify...Dan Ballard has hit the threshold twice but only one was in one of his starts (GW1). The other was in GW7 where he came on as a sub and played 53 mins. (And in his other start he got injured after 8 mins, so no threshold in that game).

Any other corrections, give me a shout!

Looking at 'threats'....not bothered about VdV, Reijnders, Kudus, Guéhi. Might just forgo Salah until post AFCON. João Pedro & Gabriel could easily come into my team soon. Senesi a maybe.

True. Though I always feel comfortable playing Sarr against tougher opponents, he's key to their quick counter/transitional play.

I think all 6 will do fine this week. Salah vs a stripped down Chelsea defence sounds worth keeping. And then United GW8.

...the introduction of DEFCON points which I assume seek to address the balance and give defenders a fair 'shake of the stick' so to speak (amongst other aims of course).

Has it succeeded? Or has it gone too far the other way? And does the BPS system still need tweaking?

GW6 something interesting...

Raúl Jiminez scored and was then forced off injured in the 10th minute yet still managed to bag himself 1 bonus point.

This nicely illustrates the BPS bias that forwards enjoy which was emphasised by the changes made last season. This has also contributed to... #FPL

If on WC/FH, sell. All other scenarios, keep. Liverpool defence looked a bit ropey...think its likely that most #FPL teams have more pressing issues than binning starting forward for Chelsea.

Yes, feels like Gabriel is more likely to get cleansheets, DEFCON, and attacking returns at the minute.

Also more likely to get sent off. Did you see his arm in Woltemade's face?

Gvardiol doesn't feel like the same asset as previous seasons...City cleansheets always a bit dubious, attacking threat not there. He has hit DEFCON once out of 3 starts which isn't too bad but plenty better cheaper options.
