Here is my opening statement to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee today.
What a sad state our country is in when we see a message like, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love,” and we all immediately know it’s about the President of the United States.
I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.
Turns out Democrats didn’t take your guns.
The Trump administration just decided carrying one makes you dangerous.
How's that sitting with the 2nd amendment supporters?
We have first amendment rights, until ICE decides we don’t.

On NPR on Friday, there was a story of a 4-year-old--an American citizen--who hasn't left her house since early December, not even to play in the yard. And her 8-year-old brother recently stopped going to school, too. Their father is undocumented, and the family doesn't want to risk him being taken.
If ICE can murder you for having a legal firearm in your holster, then you don't have the right to bear arms.

I’m trying to understand Republicans’ latest interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. You can now be executed by federal agents if you possess a firearm? Even after you are disarmed? I’m just trying to keep your position straight on this “shall not be infringed” stuff.
