People tend to hire others who look like them. DEI programs level the playing field. DEI is about looking for merit in places where you might not have looked before. Hiring us still about the best candidate. DEI just brings in more candidates.

DEI is not about giving jobs to people who are unqualified. DEI is about making sure you include people in the job search that might not have applied but are very qualified. It's about removing personal prejudice from your search.

Two major things DEI policies do are the following:

1. Recruit a larger pool of applicants (try to find the best talent.)

2. Hide names and other potentially identifying information on resumes (so only your qualifications are highlighted ... again to try to find the best applicants.)
