Hahahahahahaha! Do listen to this!
Scottish operators were always moaning about the 30+ Spanish coaches that spent all summer in the country with passengers flown in and out
And it wasn’t just Spanish operators
PS. Ireland might object, many of those tours are now undertaken there instead
Funnily enough (as always) the UK needs the EU more than the EU needs the UK
Not only. Equipment hire firms in Germany/Netherlands/etc. are cleaning up. Ditto backing singers, engineers, roadies, session musicians, etc.
Not every individual has to think the same. But for the UK, to be part of the community, in my opinion, means accepting Europeans as equals when it comes to FoM. That is a core value.
As I understand it, they are already effectively exempt for goods cabotage anyhow.
As I understand it, your registration remains with your home uni. So a Danish student studies for free in Ireland, an Irish student pays her normal registration fee in Ireland to study in Denmark.
That's my understanding anyhow
Very fair
Nah if they don’t reduce tuition cost then they are simply not to be included.
We should promote internal EU youth movement instead. That promotes cohesion.
They don’t hold any cards at all.
The status quo on touring benefits us. Why would we give that away?
It is a principle of Erasmus that tutition should be the same as you pay at home. Otherwise it discriminates.
Gott in Himmel. And this has been validated by the European Movement UK.
I will come back to this.
What helped sway the Brexit referendum was FoM and linking that to immigration in general in white working class areas of the UK. That is not resolved and will no likely be resolved in the near future.
Bof, he's posturing, using the Brexit disaster for domestic purposes. Poland isn't leaving, and it's not a serious threat
But why do it?
And of course for Band Buses the current Interbus Agreement would need to be replaced with a bilateral agreement more in line with 1073/2009 (as we at CPT were campaigning for) that would allow for cabotage and transportation of professional equipment along with passengers
As we all know, the UK *needs* to be aligned, under mutually recognised legal oversight & authority,
AND part of a same customs (union) territory if UK is wanting what it had pre-brexit.
Sure. It's not about immigration in this case, but about relationships between MSs and treating us as one unified entity.
Indeed, in "Allô Allô " they exported the japes to occupied France
Absolutely. Just look at the old British TV comedy « Dad’s Army » - nothing about death or bombing or rationing, just jolly japes and nostalgic patriotism.
No other European country produced anything like it.
Given that touring is effectively off the agenda, I wonder how MSs would feel about it being reintroduced at this late stage.

Great question, but the problem isn't bands per se - which are surely doable. The problem is carnets, which are essential when the UK is in another customs territory, and cabotage. Hard to regulate.
Besides which, the benefits from the UK's removing itself from stadium touring have been huge.
That seems a fair estimate. Do you expect Labour or any other party to address this in the manifestos?
The UK EU dance. Today's negotiations on which ultimately I expect resolution. And the what's next, involving a lot of conversations in London, Brussels and elsewhere. Which ultimately I expect to be at post 2029 negotiation depending on various elections. bsky.app/profile/nial...
Anyhow, fascinating. Glad to see MSs thinking about the relationship and how to protect European interests.
Still seems to me the current negotiations are a long way from a positive resolution, and that the May-Johnson redlines and UKG foot dragging on defence are killing what come next.
Ends
Stupid to rule it out.
On FoM, apart from being not particularly fair on older Britons, suiting a certain cadre in national capitals and the principle being damaging for the SM, most importantly we need to see commitment from the UK to European values, ideals and law.

This will change with diplomatic info., contact with other MSs positions, and Commission recommendations on the holistic position.
Nevertheless this is interesting.
On the specifics, a full bells and whistles CU with UK is a strategically brilliant move for Europe and should be considered
6
And secondly they want a stronger thought-through strategic remit to present to the Commission this time round.
Okay, caveats. This is not the position of the Union, it's not even the position of the MSs in question. It is tentative discussions with no working paper.
5
Firstly, this is good news for UK pro-Europeans, as the MSs think the reset is chugging along enough to merit this.
If you're wondering why they're doing this, these are informal talks for the next position, as the Commission has this one in hand, firstly.
4
Secondly, they want something on FoM no matter what, but are examining how to present this. They're examining limiting full FoM to young people only in the agreement with the UK, say under-30s.
(I guess Starmer could argue it wasn't FoM, European youth get to work in UK)
3
While there is frustration with the UK and the reset, discussions on the European have begin on the next stage - rest 2 if you will - with "at least three other MSs"
Some things stood out
Firstly, there seems to be no appetite for a customs union
[wait for the caveats]
