Who the f%*k is Chris Mason? Just watched his dreadful interview with Starmer. Who the hell does this weaselly third rate journalist think he is, presuming to grotesquely insult and trivialize the British PM? Starmer may have some challenges, but he shd not have to put up with this uninformed crap!

It’s unbelievably embarrassing that a newspaper with some lingering pretensions to be serious would run with this kind of drivel.

Sometimes, a front page can sum up quite a lot that’s wrong with the world. Including the paper itself which has been so complicit in getting us to a place where children born to refugees could be deported, Trump celebrates despotic wealth and Boris Johnson’s sister moans about not being rich. Ugh.

So many American Christian nationalists are bigoted hypocrites, piously spouting religious dogma while behaving abominably to less fortunate fellow human beings. Jesus would weep.

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

The Epstein Saga Has Only Just Begun The next phase will involve ensuring Trump complies with the disclosures. Let us distrust and verify.

Daily dose of excellent observations and depressing analysis by the stellar team at the Bulwark. By now, I shouldn’t be shocked, but the fawning meeting with MBS still represents yet another appalling low. open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...

Andy Field, 61, an NHS doctor who said he
knew Farage well because they took the
same train to school, has similarly clear
memories.

"When I became a prefect, he [Farage] said,
Tll show you how to do it,' claimed Field,.
"He took me for a walk up to the lower
school playground, where all the children
from about nine years old to 12 would be.
And he singled out, completely at random, a
kid of Asian extraction, and just put him in
detention for no reason whatsoever. I was
flabbergasted, absolutely stunned. I was just
disgusted, really. No rhyme or reason, just
purely based on the colour of his skin.

It's good that they're fighting, but it's important to remember that she's not looking at Trump through the same lens as us. When she says "serves foreign countries," she's implying things like US aid to Ukraine, H1B visas, and US foreign aid are bad. She's not talking about the corruption & bribes.

i.e. The headline to my piece is misleading. I also agree with those who have commented, wondering why our govt appears to have such legal qualms about this issue, but was willing to go along re Israel, involving far more substantial violations.

12.11.2025 19:51 β€” πŸ‘ 21    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It doesn’t. Agree complicity over Israel war crimes is far worse, but I can only assume govt lawyers came up with some legal wriggle room.

Fair point. I’m assuming Uk govt lawyers created legal wriggle room over Israel (for reasons I find completely hard to fathom), but none over this. I agree Israel complicity is FAR worse.

To be clear, I wrote this could exacerbate UK-US tensions ONLY if US pettily chose to react. This can’t be ruled out, given other tensions such as BBC row, fallout from Andrew/Epstein, perceptions Starmer becoming politically weak. On substance, far more significant US rupture is with Colombia.

Democrats were never going to win the shutdown fight Yes, polls showed more people blaming Trump. But on their substantive demands, the party was drawing dead.

This article is spot on. Republicans always going to play hardball, no matter how many got hurt. Dems picked the wrong battle, putting forward unrealistic demands, which they cared about more. Like the Mayor in Blazing Saddles, holding a gun to their own heads. www.vox.com/politics/468...
