So they chatted amongst themselves and then did go to get her and the trans person did my scan. She was so gentle and kind and respectful . I’d rather no borders (no borders! no bosses! No landlords! As the grafitti says!)

I had seen a trans femme working earlier in security section, when does this ever happen? So I said, I’d like a trans person to do the scan. I’m a trans person and if I get to pick I’d like to request another trans person do this intimate scan.

We can’t wait to come back (hopefully in the summer lol!). Although @bearbergman, my dear friend/neighbour fr toronto who now living here, sounded like absolute prairie-based artist talmbout « really, as long as it’s -20 c and above it’s not bad. Just once it dips below -20 it REALLY feels cold »

Got to hold our book for the first time today! The cover is art by @rahbush7604 and it’s so gorgeous. So thankful! It’s amazing to see these chapters and this book in real life! What a journey it is to make a book- there’s so much behind the scenes. So happy to be launching in Regina this week!

Kansas Sends Letters To Trans People Demanding The Immediate Surrender Of Drivers Licenses "The legislature did not include a grace period."

It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow

It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker

This was never about woman's sports

On Meta. And no stress- this happens a lot when I’m on the air. AntiBlackness runs so deep here, as does transphobia.

I was called an N-word lady on video about the BAFTAS that I did w/ Commotion. They’ve deleted the worst comments, but there’s still one up, will deleted soon calling me transphobic slurs, a “thing” and other violence. Likely bots but hateful people too. How sad for them that this is their life.

Today on the show, @syrusmarcus tells @elamin about what we can learn from this incident, and all the questions it’s raised around how we navigate race and disability in public spaces.

The biggest story coming out of this year’s # #BAFTA awards wasn’t about a winner, but about the editing of the broadcast itself.

There’s been a lot of discussion online about the #BBC’s decision to broadcast the moment

Image: Audre Lorde (at left) teasing Barbara Smith about her braided hair, 1979. Credit: Photo by Tia Cross.

Lorde is on the left side of the sepia tinted photo. She wears a patterned Ankara print top and matching head scarf. Smith smiles widely showing her teeth and tongue and squishing up her eyes as audre reaches out and rubs her braided head. She wears a white ribbed turtle neck with stripes across the chest and a puffy 1970s/80s vest

Happy birthday Audre Lorde!

Syrus holds a copy of TOPIA against his cheek. He is smiling and wearing a spiked septum piercing and a brown tshirt. The TOPIA cover has a bright red and blue artwork on it and text reads “volume 50: Beyond : queerer possibilities of elsewhere and imagining otherwise The front page of my article in TOPIA. I hold the book open and the title reads Hope for a generation: speculative fiction as a tool for racial justice and systems change followed by the abstract in English and French. A random page from the article on a diagonal, held by syrus’ hand. You can see his thumb and a silver thumb ring

Got my copy of TOPIA in the mail! I wrote an article about speculative fiction as a tool for radical change and about the possibilities of rooting into ‘hope for a generation’ as Fat Freddy’s Drop sings about.
