I kept thinking of Fellini’s Clowns or Chomet / Tati’s The Illusionist. Not theme-wise, but more just paying respect to legends.

So many good movies in 1986. Runner ups would be Howard the Duck, Labyrinth, Manhunter, Coffee and Cigarettes and Short Circuit.

Just sitting here thinking about Shanks two weeks after watching it.

Just saw Alucarda for the first time. What a wonderful dark fairy tale. Juan López Moctezuma uses every dollar of his limited budget to deliver a wonderfully creative and macabre nightmare.
