People often wonder how writers come up ideas but really my actual challenge as a writer is not getting distracted from my current idea by some shiny new idea.

Ideas are easy. They are everywhere. You can mash them together and give them a new spin. Endless possibilities.

Look at these pretty flowers spotted in Málaga! Half pink, half yellow. Nature is so creative.

El Torcal is a fabulous place to hike. Strange rocks and breathtaking views. I bet it looks like a different planet after dark. I definitely want to go back.

I feel the same way about writing hopeful vs. dystopian speculative fiction. Hopeful requires extra effort. Dystopia comes more naturally. 😳😬
