bluesky bros... behold SHRIMP GAME:

Go give Shrimp Game a wishlist on Steam. Go play the demo to see how you like it.
It's a lot of fun!
For what to expect:
-Be wary of long load times if you do not save the game on an SSD
-Some attacks will randomly linger, so even if you block you can get hit after
-And the timing of some finishers is wonky where they won't go off sometimes.
Well, Astor: Blade of the Monolith was...fine.
I enjoyed the overall game, just some pieces fell a little flat. I'd still recommend giving this game a play, just go in with tempered expectations.

A very good game with a nice take on the metroidvania genre. I really enjoyed the characters and pixel art. Relatively short and sweet, but still enjoyable and worth the play.
I would definitely recommend you play this game.

So, if not long from now I were to say I have room for at least one or two of these, would anyone be interested?
26.10.2025 04:17 โ ๐ 267 ๐ 59 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 0Let me revise what I said, I would not recommend this game unless you can stand playing through clearly outdated designs.
26.10.2025 01:27 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'll eventually play the remake of the first and possibly get the remake of the second for Star Ocean and man do I hope it's designed better than this game.
26.10.2025 01:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One forum comment I saw suggested playing as the healer and letting the other 3 do all the fighting on their own since the ai is better at fighting. So basically suggesting to not actually play the game at all.
26.10.2025 01:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Like how am I supposed to play around my party ai being incredibly stupid and standing in every attack and cornering themselves to get picked off by the boss and ads?
26.10.2025 01:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Again with it feeling like the devs just hate the player. This specific boss feels like it's meant to just punish you for not using the mechanics that the devs didn't design around encouraging you to use.
26.10.2025 01:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Well, after my computer failing to find boot device and finally getting it checked and fixed, I ended up not finishing this game.
This specific boss is just so annoying and dumb. Look up forums and it's just "use the mechanic, it's easy". But it's not cause of so many ads offing your party.
SCOOP: For the last two years, Microsoft has pushed Xbox to hit profit margins of 30%, an ambitious target that's far higher than the industry average.
This chase for profit has led Xbox to raise prices, cut thousands of jobs, and rethink everything.

This only further vindicates my opinion that there's a bad habit of RPGs being well thought out for the first 1/2. And then the last like 1/3 to 1/4 throws the core philosophy out.
(not all RPGs, I know)
I understand RPGs can get long, but then that requires you as a dev to better plan things out.
Like legit, I feel like the devs of this game just hated their players.
Oh we'll knowingly put a heal and save point before a key fight. But at the end of a dungeon right before a boss? Naaaahh
There's making things challenging, and then there's what feels like spite.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope has been great to play and the story has been very engaging. Some parts do show their age, but it's passable enough.
I would recommend this game, but only if you can adjust to older/clunky game design.
See below for more of my thoughts.

I occasionally went over old forums to see other people's advice on how to do fights. Half the time they were saying to just play as one of the healers and let the ally AI do all the fighting since they're better.
Not very encouraging advice if you're wanting to actually engage with the game.
It also doesn't help with the amount of hit-stun enemies have that prevent your use of the mechanic. Don't worry, they added another mechanic to work around the hit-stun, but only after you feel the annoyance of the hit-stun juggle.
15.10.2025 02:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It doesn't really help either that there's not really any sign that the mechanic needs to be used, other than "oh I'm not doing damage".
But even then, that's not obvious with enemy buffs significantly reducing your damage.
I may just be a separate case, but my brain doesn't register every mechanic at my disposal if I'm not using them consistently.
This mechanic is something I'd have to actively tell myself to use, hence the critique of no consistency from the game to encourage its use.
The required use of the mechanic was 1 enemy halfway through the game, just recently a key fight, and now soon after a boss fight.
This is not how you would want to encourage your player to use the mechanic. A majority of the enemies are beaten by simple attacks and occasional specials.
It makes sense, when you have a core mechanic, to help the player get used to using it. This can appear as like certain enemies can only be defeated using it.
But you typically want to do it consistently throughout the game so it feels natural.
This game has been pretty good for a majority of the playthrough. A sprinkle of annoyances, but nothing egregious.
I get to like the start of the last 1/4th of the game and it just feels like it nose dives. A mechanic that was introduced at the start is finally now being encouraged.

27.03.2025 15:38 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Sadly had to stop playing Valfaris cause it was getting on my nerves.
In terms of metroid-y, it was pretty good. Nice variety of weapons to customize how you play. Just some of the level design and randomness made it annoying.
Give it a try, but it's not for me

Okay yeah, I came back to this for New Game + and got all the achievements. I absolutely loved this game.
28.09.2025 19:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Sword of the Sea was such a delightful game to play. Very reminiscent of Journey, but it also shines on its own.
I highly recommend this game if you're looking for a chill game with incredible music and visuals.

Just finished playing Dungeons of Hinterberg and it was an incredible time. Loved the story, the gameplay, the art style, the mechanics. Everything!
Honestly, I cannot think of anything I disliked. I highly recommend giving this game a play.
