i wish i was more ok with it. I still feel pricks of jealousy at younger people who are better than me bc i used to be 'good for my age'. But like I also have noticed people like that tend to pay in other parts of their life- they don't do well in school, they neglect their health/sleep for art etc

thats even more exhausting, anxiety inducing etc. And like the logistics to get that shit togetehr takes away time and energy for.... making stuff. People really don't get how much rest and conserved time and exposure matters to making.

Yeah. Tbh the not just surviving but having enough space to mentally breathe and do shit is critical to making stuff. Like I found it super hard to draw when I had to study for med school and things like that. Just so tired, so much studying and no room to draw. When ur basic needs arent covered-

i also think it biases towards people who have artists/creatives as parents, are wealthy and well exposed, and have the time and energy to be little geniuses. Everyone likes to talk about the masters being so amazing at 15 or whatever like Picasso but not how like these people were working at times-
