For me it was the shift from people posting because they genuinely wanted to share something cool vs posting because they have to appease the endless content conveyor belt algorithm to stay relevant. Hate that it’s an obligation now
Can’t wait for social media to collapse so I can get back to posting messages in bottles and tossing them into the sea
We should! I’m back in my home country atm but when I’m back stateside in future I’ll def say hi. Would love to check out the blues/jazz scene in Chicago. Also yess love me some house
Honestly I thought it was too heavy for general audiences, plus the dubstep people were already listening to had more complexity so I didn’t think it’d carry over. But I didn’t account for riddim’s headbanging potential so I was way off the mark lol
My fav thing to do the whole time I’ve listened to electronic music is find these subgenres before they go big (which is partly where I got my artist name from lol) and tho I got to riddim before it blew up I did NOT think it would appeal to as many ppl as it has. So I’m keen to know what hooked ppl
lol same, I think we’d be talking for some time. My top dubstep picks are ones like Skrillex’s Recess (Quest for fire was also top), anything Au5 has made, but also really subby tracks like Direct’s Parallax, Myst’s Calina & a couple Zha tracks
Sounds interesting, I’ll check it out! I get what u mean about the simplicity, but I’ve been listening to a lot of Jazz/Djent/psych rock the last few years so riddim feels a bit too direct lol. Phonon’s Polyriddim was refreshing, but it got memed so hard I’m not sure it changed the scene that much
Hahah I def have a soft spot for tracks I heard as a kid. I do like a couple of riddim tracks, especially from the NSD black label days. But none that are on constant rotation really
I try and keep up with genres and what people are into, with being a musician and that. Even when hyperpop got big, it wasn’t for me but I felt like I knew what the main draw was. But having typed all this out now maybe I’m just getting older lol
Even when guys like excision got big, I didn’t vibe with the same way others did but still understood the appeal when I went to concerts and things. I think i stopped being as interested in the last couple years when tearout/riddim started being “the” sound, it just didn’t hit me the same
For sure, I’ve been listening to electronic music since I was a kid, and was super into the dubstep scene when it blew up in the 2010s. That era + brostep still hold a special place in my heart, and went back to listen to some early UK records too
Okay I couldn’t ask this on the other app since I’ll get dogpiled instantly but. What’s the appeal of Riddim/tearout? It’s the only genre I just can’t ‘get’
This place feels like the one quiet room at the party
This gotta be apple’s best feature ‼️
Lmao where can I watch it
I get u, helps to have a list of things u want to do™ that you just have to make some kind of progress on. On my slowest days I still try & do the tiniest thing bc fractional gains is still progress. It’s a tough balance fs when some things aren’t fun to do but even sitting down to get start counts
All these bird apps got me like
