ink and watercolour illustration of a dog dressed as a knight riding a pig instead of a horse. the dog is white with brown spots, it's wearing clashing green blue and orange in the style of a Landsknecht, with a plumed hat. it's holding a lande and has one paw on its hip. the pig is very fat, tan with brown spots. it has a saddle and reigns which are turquoise with yellow detailing

its come to my attention that some of you dont know about the JCR corset incident that sent me spiraling into months of pure insanity so here we go. on the 1819 parry expedition they put on a production of the citizen in which jcr's corset ripped open pinup style and they published a POEM about it

Image is from the Illustrated Arctic News, a shipboard newspaper produced during the 1850-1851 search for the #FranklinExpedition, a facsimile of which was published in 1852.

It shows a scene from the theatrical production of Charles XII. There are two very pretty female-presenting people in tight brown tops and brightly coloured hooped skirts, worn with coloured stockings. and a strapping male-presenting person in a tricorn hat, frogged navy jacket, white breeches and high black boots.

Shocked to hear that someone's had their nomination for a top Navy job rescinded for taking part in drag acts on board.

As if that wasn't a major part of shipboard life for centuries.

i'm sick of portrayals of hell where it's just reliving the worst moments of your life. that only ever became popular because it was easy to film. if i'm paying $20 to see a movie i demand bosch style demons putting people through pasta extruders

An underrated fandom experience is having a friend you can privately complain about your least favorite ships or headcanons with so you can have your petty bitch time without ever insulting or offending anyone in the fandom, and I think more people need to learn to do this

Photo of a sketched comic. Francis and Blanky are standing together as it’s snowing hard. Francis is squinting and saying “where is everyone? I can barely see”
Next Blanky is yelling “John!” to which several voices reply “yes”
In the final sketch Francis and Blanky are staring at each other as Blanky says “There, that’s about half of them accounted for!”

Comic drawn in red lines and messy red brush strokes at the edges. James and Francis are in bed under a blanket together, Francis on his side and propped up on his elbow, James sitting with his knees drawn up and arms crossed comfortably. The dialogue without speech bubbles reads “listen James…” “hm?” “I want to apologise for the time I punched you. I never said-“

The dialogue without speech bubbles reads “listen James…” “hm?” “I want to apologise for the time I punched you. I never said-“

James is smiling and relaxed, Francis is looking at him with slight concern and a raised hand. The dialogue reads “well, I did deserve that one. I was a terrible Second and worse friend that day.” “Even so, was I any better? You were right”

James is smiling and relaxed, Francis is looking at him with slight concern and a raised hand. The dialogue reads “well, I did deserve that one. I was a terrible Second and worse friend that day.” “Even so, was I any better? You were right”

James from the shoulders up, smiling fondly, Francis’ hand is by his face, reaching out to stroke his cheek with a finger gently. More messy dark red brush strokes frame him.
The dialogue reads “I’d hope my hand withers and falls off should I ever hurt you again” “don’t be silly, Francis” “I mean it, James. You are precious to me”

Messy red brush strokes take up the top quarter of the image, pale blue the other 3 quarters. There is faint snow, Francis is drawn in the blue section. He is wearing Inuit clothing, he has a beard and his hair is longer and messier. He is sitting cross legged, his right hand touching his left elbow, the left sleeve ends at the wrist and is sewn shut. He looks miserably off into the middle distance.
The words in the red section are written in pale blue, saying “I hope you know that”. Below that, red on blue, are the words “I do”

Francis has been addressing James by his last name or rank up until now, he (falsely) believed it would be nice to use his first name in an intimate moment

SECOND PANEL: the view is from the perspective of someone watching from the window as JCR jumps up and down shouting “HELLO!!!!!” He’s drawn very small and goofy looking
