1) This is why you don’t attack and demean your allies. You might need them someday.

2) If you are planning a military operation that could use some help from allies, it’s customary to add those countries to your coalition BEFORE you launch the attack.

Grandma jailed after AI error linked her to crime in state she never visited: lawyer The charges were later dismissed after bank records showed she was in Tennessee at the time

We need return-to-home laws for detained or incarcerated people.

Law and immigration enforcement should NOT be allowed to dump people wherever it's convenient & cheap for the agency.

Police stranded this wrongfully incarcerated TN woman in Fargo in winter.

Absolutely. No one even takes Fetterman seriously enough to address the content of what he said, but it's really stupid. It would be both self-defeating and criminal for the US to just murder the new Iranian leader straight away.

And I guess now they'll have Crosby's contract back on their books. They hadn't planned on that.

This is an organization that is in love with their current roster. They are determined to run it back with what is already one of the oldest rosters in the league.

It's a bold strategy for a team that won 12 one-score games last year, and has a much tougher schedule in '26.

Whatever the reason, I thought it worked brilliantly. Best scene of the season.

Outrageous ignorance by Hegseth. Any competent government official knows that asserting the civilian population is safe is Step #1 in a war.

And his “answer” only indicts him further.

If it’s true that Russia helping Iran target US forces is an easier problem to solve than college sports, then how scandalous is it that the commander in chief is just letting that problem fester?

Why doesn’t he pick up the phone and call Putin??

But the state does have an interest in its schools teaching truthfully. You wouldn’t leave it up to each individual science teacher as to whether they taught evolution or not.

I recommend the audiobook version. It's read by the author, and it's clear from her narration how much she enjoyed writing the book and sharing it with the world.

Why are Dems nitpicking about the insensitivity of the theme?

The issue is that it is outrageous that a cabinet official is doing partisan fundraising at all!

Especially the Sec. of Defense, when our nation--not just the Republican Party--is at war.

It sounds to me like the US and Israel are goading the Kurds to attack, but the Kurds aren't exactly chomping at the bit to get mowed down in open desert land.

US/Israel: "Ready, go!"
Kurds: "Um, gonna need a bit more time."

A handwritten letter from a child detained at Dilley center. It features a drawing of a house and a crying person’s head. Translated text reads: "We are all stuck in rooms that can hold 12 people they won’t let us go out to the playgrounds and park and it’s very boring to do every day God touch the hearts of those at ICE let us out We are not criminals I want to go home."

While detained at the Dilley detention center, 13-year-old Gerson Lopéz Garcia wrote: “We are all stuck in rooms that can hold 12 people … let us out we are not criminals I want to go home.”

No, she blames Iran for backing the insurgency in Iraq that killed so many Americans. It was right there in the article.

She said she believes that Iran fueled and funded the insurgency in Iraq that killed so many Americans. THAT is what she thinks one has to do with another. You may fault her geopolitical analysis, but she's not a "slobbering moron" or a racist.

She specifically said she believes that Iran fueled and funded the insurgency that killed so many Americans. She's not blaming Iran because they are Muslim/Persian.

Donald Trump announcing the new war

I know it's far down on the list of offenses, but the fact that he announces the most consequential and deadly serious of government actions - a new WAR - while wearing one of his stupid fucking branded baseball caps is just so vulgar and repulsive.

I used that term to include veterans and military contractors, since some of the comments referenced contractors.

Pete Hegseth doesn't sound like any previous SecDef. Not even close.

I feel like i could post a million links pointing how Hegseth himself is using this language and why he’s doing it and you guys would still be in here doing whatever this is. My advice is to do something more productive like trying to fit more of your resume in your handle

It's not about what you military insiders heard. We ignorant cake-eaters also read DoD press releases and watch Hegseth's speeches, and we KNOW that he doesn't sound ANYTHING like any previous secretary. Why is this so hard for to understand?

His point is we civilians didn’t constantly hear it the internal usage means zilch. Previous secretaries used normal words like soldiers or sailors etc when addressing the public. I’d definitely heard the term every once and again prior to Hegseth but he’s right that it’s constant now.
