I love a lot of things about Sound Transit's growing light rail system in the Seattle region, but the use of numbers to represent both lines (1 and 2) AND stations (e.g., here you see 65 and 68) is super confusing and unhelpful, IMO.

That has very little to do with salary and everything to do with campaign finance, IMHO.

Low congressional *staff* pay is a much bigger problem, however

The Trump Administration wants to leave its mark on Washington’s Dulles airport, even potentially replacing the iconic (but not landmarked) Eero Saarinen-designed main terminal.

It’s amazing that “we have a plan” means “issuing an RFI”

I’m not convinced he actually has a plan; I bet he’s been briefed on MWAA’s existing master plan and claiming that

Yes; there’s a huge opportunity with paratransit, but many of the obligations under the ADA require an attendant

Everybody likes this idea of microtransit, but the economics of it do not work for transit agencies

Are they discarding the same labor hours? Not sure I’ve ever seen an agency approach it that way.

Curious about their rolling stock needs, also.

Yes, it’s not a huge technical problem. But it is a big policy (and agreement) issue. You have to get all the users on board.

And we’re currently forcing Denver’s regional rail to require a massive setback…

Speed probably isn’t the main constraint, it’s availability of the ROW. Automation (today, at least) requires exclusivity.

Sure, but one institution could easily serve both purposes, no?

There is no bidding process. The casino is an unsolicited proposal being pushed by the “applicant,” but the council hasn’t approved any casino legislation and DMPED hasn’t issued a solicitation.

Yes, once a tiebreaker is so convoluted it doesn’t produce a clear result, just flip a coin.

But you still gotta make that call before!

Replay doesn’t even allow to correct for many blown calls (eg pass interference) and as constituted doesn’t seamlessly correct clear and obvious errors

Big Ten is generally quite sensible about this; the biggest issue is with Iowa and their “America Needs Farmers” stolen valor on the football helmets
