if u decide to broadcast urself talkin about this stuff and i spot u doing this i click off immediately
pet peeve: someone tries laying out the plight of the animator in general, then as an example they bring up the grit of animators in foreign countries, and then (a seeming slight of hand) using the example of that grit to prop up modern American animation as good or important.
like why’d u do that
Congratulations to the team that worked on the Knights of Guinevere. The pilot is amazing <3

it could be that you have a hidden/disabled/locked layer selected.
when you're drawing on a layer, a pencil icon appears on it. any strokes that you draw in the Camera view will be applied to that layer. hiding or locking the layer clears this away.
select a visible, unlocked layer to draw again.
@parkersimmons.bsky.social harmony is cool mmmkay
im gonna do a video
in your layer of choice, select the frames that you want to cycle.
then right click, and look for "Create Cycle...".
then type in how many times you'd like those frames to repeat and click OK. the selected frames will then be repeated for as many times as you set.
i didn't even realize there were node effects for timing until now hahahah
whole time I've just used Create Cycle + pegs
tatsuya yoshikawa (breath of fire), kazutaka sugiyama (chainsaw man), yoji shinkawa (metal gear solid)

this all said, i believe that there’s no such thing as a small change, only the tolerated or unperceived change.

In Japan we call this kind of mock-up of a finished frame an “image board” and this was our very first for #Tekkonkinkreet
Layout by our brilliant character/animation lead Shojiro Nishimi, BG by the great Shinji Kimura.

i get a bit bummed that all the site formats on squarespace more or less feel the same, with the big banner space frontloaded to hold a 4k picture, and the little pockets of text below
like yea what if i WANT my website to look like a university’s project site for their translation of the Iliad smh

Hi evil
whether such a change results in the disruption of SoD will depend on the design of the copied drawing relative to the other drawings in the series, and the fancies of the viewer.
the viewer’s subconscious regularly checks, “does the animation feel like a unified whole? a whole of what?”
a movie projected in a theater from a spool of film is a different experience from that projected from an SSD on a drive-in theater screen, or a CRT in pan-and-scan.
physically in the viewing environment, physiologically in the viewer.
i feel like suspension of disbelief isn’t just a response to story, but a response to design in general.
if you take an animation made up of ten drawings, and switch one drawing with a traced copy, then i’d say that the animation as a whole has changed into a fundamentally different experience.
