Scaramouche already looks so fragile that he could come apart at the seams at any second. Though anger still dictates his movements, each one is done with the gingerness of a wounded animal snared in a trap. He would despise the comparison to prey. Still, in spite of his artificiality, in spite of his cruelty and brutality, his suffering and vulnerability are hard to abide.
