It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

In short, I think it is very likely 40/52 is the *best* this ever polls, unless the administration can produce a Regime Change Easter Miracle and somehow have a functioning, pliant and pro-USA interim government in place by, like, June.

And that seems...unlikely to happen.

Like, right now, Uncle Sam just socked Evil McBadGuy in the face and the median voter is thinking, "This seems precipitous, I am seriously concerned this is going to go badly" rather than cheering like it is an action movie.

Not sure in what sense @sodrock.bsky.social thought it was insane, but to me it is striking that it is as low as 40% for a strike against a long-term enemy and a brutal regime, which at least appears to be 'going well' if you are paying only limited attention.

I'd expect higher, to be honest.

Removing the capacity for Iran to threaten ships in the strait entirely is going to be really hard without a ground operation, as we saw with the much smaller, less well-resourced Houthis.

The bank shot is obviously 'someone else's ground operation.'

So just to be clear: at the same time that we are running a roughly $1.8trillion deficit, the government is going to have to pay back something like $200bn in tariffs.

And this was the moment that they figured it was a great time to burn a billion dollars *a day* starting an optional war. 🤦‍♂️

I suspect Kurdish independence would suddenly look like an excellent deal, at least in Tehran. Turkey would be less enthused.
