One of my clients died yesterday. She was an absolutely lovely woman, full of faith and joy and light. She cared deeply about the people around her. She was a source of encouragement and support to the women she was incarcerated with. She was 51 years old and had spent 28 years in prison.

At the end of June, my article on Police Officer-Perpetrated Domestic Violence (OPDV) was published in Violence Against Women. I’ve now added it to ResearchGate and created this summary deck as a way to counter the many silos paywalls create.

Anti-violence community, now is the time to say loudly and emphatically: the fact that Jennifer Vasquez Sura sought a protective order against Kilmar Abrego Garcia does not justify deporting him without due process to a country where his life is in danger and to a prison that is a torture factory.

The Feminist Law Professor Who Wants to Stop Arresting People for Domestic Violence For years, Leigh Goodmark was convinced that the way to keep women safe was through arrests and prosecutions. Now she’s pushing for the opposite.

Really worth reading

As a nonprofit manager in the last era of Steve Jobs Silicon Valley, I am appalled Apple storification is still trending and aspirational. The model doesn't even work in retail.

This classic tech aesthetics over functionality.

Much waste, very inefficient.

How a well-intended California domestic violence law results in victims being arrested | Opinion The California Penal Code requires officers to make an arrest in domestic violence incidents, sometimes leading to victims being detained.

Mandatory arrest laws in domestic violence cases are ineffective, unnecessary, and lead to the arrests of survivors of violence, even in places where police are told to determine who the primary aggressor is. It's long past time to repeal them. calmatters.org/commentary/2...
