Publication alert! โœจ Our recent paper in Ecology & Evolution addresses how to make conferences more inclusive. We collected observational and experimental data during Q&A sessions at the Behaviour 2023 congress hosted by Bielefeld University, and circulated a survey among conference attendees [1/4]

Cartoon of a female scientist wearing a lab coat and safety goggles. She is holding a PCR plate and stands in front of a bin filled with more plastic waste. The bin has a recycling logo in it. Behind the woman is written "Can we reuse laboratory items to reduce plastic waste?"

๐Ÿงช Lab plastic waste is a huge problem - but what can we do about it? ๐Ÿฅผ

In our lab, we tested whether reusing and washing microtitre plates could help reduce waste.
In some cases, it works! โ™ป๏ธ ๐ŸŒ

I had the pleasure of presenting at my first European Cetacean Society's conference.
The conference in Ponta Delgada, the Azores was extremely well executed and I had a great time connecting with peers and learning more about marine mammals.

Sustainability in the laboratory: evaluating the reusability of microtitre plates for PCR and fragment detection | Royal Society Open Science Single-use plastics (SUPs) are indispensable in laboratory research, but their disposal contributes substantially to environmental pollution. Consequently, reusing common SUP items such as microtitre ...

Ever wondered if you could reduce the laboratory plastic waste?
We tested the reusability of microtiter plates for PCR and fragment detection.

25th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals.

With the theme 'fishing for change', SMM brought together scientists from near and far to share knowledge, experience and ideas.

Take home message: if you take from Country, you must give back to Country. (life in balance with nature)

conservgenomics Paris take home messages:
- How do we bridge the gap between scientists and conservation agents?
- How do we communicate our results, so they are interpretable to those who must apply them?
