It urges them to defend human artistry in translation, safeguard working conditions and ensure that international versions of creative works remain faithful, culturally rich and respectful of their source.

The manifesto targets directors, scriptwriters, producers, actors, translators, educators, broadcasters, streaming platforms, policymakers and audiences.

They undermine quality, creativity, the richness of our languages and the professional livelihoods of linguists—all while platforms continue to raise subscription prices.

ATRAE warns that automated systems (built on uncredited data extraction) cannot capture nuance, tone, cultural references or the artistic intent behind a script.
