Third, I am horrified that this ditch liquor (albeit pleasant enough with a little practice) is now viral because I know that means people don't have money for bad beer and liquor (which are atrociously cheap in many places). 10^7 people learning to make prison hooch is an economic harbinger.
I am struggling with this.
First of all, I love this man. He is charming.
Second, I thought everyone everywhere already knew this. I was doing this when I was a teenager. We even invented our own tops that allowed these brews to appropriately carbonate and ferment.

Question for the hivemind:
I need a great big bag of public, verifiable, real IPD so I can learn more about the data behind typical Table 1 values in a medical paper. I'm talking age, sex, weight, height, BMI, HR, BP, typical baseline scales, etc.
Please snitch-tag, retweet, and kvetch. And clap.

But tenure is coming, just a few more years—
And the shit you’ll do, it’ll bring them to tears!
"A junior scholar with good ideas and Claude Code can now produce *new knowledge* at a pace that would have required a full lab a few years ago. But so can everyone else, and the evaluation criteria haven’t caught up."
Now: which makes more sense?
"A junior scholar with good ideas and Claude Code can now produce *words in order* at a pace that would have required a full lab a few years ago. But so can everyone else, and the evaluation criteria haven’t caught up."
compare that to...
(1) Read, and replace any mention of 'work' or 'papers' in your mind with 'words in order'.
(2) Repeat, replace the same with 'new knowledge'.
Which makes most sense?
If the article is about words-in-order, discard. If it is about new knowledge, read it carefully to see if the author is loopy.
I'm not mad about this, I don't have time today.
However, I find myself appending the same mental note to anything else under the heading of academic 'productivity hacks'...
Yes! That!
This is absolutely bizarre, I’ve never seen anything like it, and I still don’t know what to make of it.

As an academic community, why can't we have just one format for references? If you never hear from me again, it's because trying to reconcile journal reference sections, bibtex, doi.org, crossref and openalex formats has murdered me.
Then it's likely ideal.
Bambu would be the traditional answer. They are a horrible company who ruined their open source ecosystem but you won't spend too much money finding that out. And they work.
