You want to protect the kids by giving companies the info they need to target them even more, to let people know where your kids live, what they look like, how old they are? You're okay with that info being stored waiting to be hacked to leaked for the world to know?

Also think about where your info is being stored? Is it a government systems? Or is it the companies like Google, Spotify, and other big corps that will have your legal name, address, age, height, weight, eye color, and any other info YOU provide them. Think selling your info now is bad...

This is a reach the government SHOULD NOT HAVE! The amount of problems this will cause is going to be shattering. This helps no one.
