Call me wacky, but recruiting a bunch of extremists and telling them to invade cities as armed, masked and anonymous kidnappers but then telling them "do it for funsies instead of pay now" seems like a recipe for disaster.

It's such a campy film.

You know what I love most about Human Centipede? It's actually an incredibly non-graphic film. You really don't see much. Visually it's incredibly tame.

But the idea... the core idea is so repugnant, it makes people imagine so much worse in their heads. The audience does all the work.

Oh, I'll never forget and treasure the drunk audience I saw it with at 1am.

It really just takes a compassionate heart. I remember my mother watching a daytime talk show about parents disowning their queer kids and her turning to me saying, "I don't understand how any loving parent could do that to their child."

It should be so much easier for love and compassion to succeed in the world over hate and cruelty, if it weren't for the fact that money prospers under hate.

I always described it as "running through fire to avoid the rolling boulder coming at me. Sure I ran through fire, but it was self-preservation."

It's still courage. Most will just keep running from the boulder forever.

Yeah, it's an upsetting and misogynistic movie, not exactly new territory for Mamet who seems to traffic in compelling but upsettingly misogynistic plays starring Bill Macy. But I still like it because of how it wraps up at the end.
