Beautiful inter-practice inter-religious spaces are possible.

I made so many incredible connections and have so many great memories of that time. Quite honestly, I wouldn’t be in seminary now with out those folx who called me to be this interfaith Rev.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been thinking about how my ministry started with holding sacred space on Twitter during the early pandemic, for Pagans, Occult folx, and Christians. Having all sorts of incredible conversations, and even the Eucharist over zoom.

Every minister who ministers to the LGBTQ community, regardless of denomination or affiliation, should have a copy of this book.

I cannot recommend it enough.

Lord your sense of humor does not escape me. This Unitarian was asked to preach on Trinity Sunday for my local Disciples of Christ congregation.

We cannot ignore the cries of the poor and then pretend to be the light of the world.

I'm excited to talk with @EnfysBook.kind.social.ap.brid.gy about their book Queer Rites in a couple of weeks. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

What is needed, as has been the case, is nothing short of a revolution of everyday life.

How do we convince everyone that we have to stop living parasitically and move to more across the planet sustainable practices? If it’s too late to reverse the damage we have now, how do we motivate others to embody it’s still worth mitigating what we can?

I haven’t read Boff’s eco work yet, but I imagine it has to cover something similar. Because nothing can be separated from the criticism of empire, and the criticism of the idea that infinite growth is possible in a very finite world.

Can we take the Hegel and Marx criticism of the young Hegelians, and extend the analysis in a meaningful way that makes it so people are not only products of their environment, but also their lives are also influenced by environmental degradation?

My biggest challenge for all of this is how do move from saying every thing is sacred, or all spaces are sacred spaces to creating the cultural shift where this is a lived reality? I imagine for mass acceptance would have to come from a sort of materialism-transcendentalism of some sort.

Being a Unitarian nerd and taking UU history and polity this semester is just a joyous ride.

I’m very excited of course to cover more Unitarian ground but also excited to learn more about the history of our Universalist siblings.

I think full emersion would be my go to. Because ritually I think it’s an incredible symbol of washing away your the old in preparation to put on the new being. We are not to sprinkle the light of the world but to embody it wherever we may be.

Liberal political parties in the UK whining about not being welcome at Pride purely because they think they deserve to be there is a perfect case study of the liberal attitude to votes more generally ("every minority's fealty is owed to us up front no matter how many promises we break")

I am blessed to know many, who live a life of service. And in my city we have a vibrant mutual aid network to help address the issues where government often fails.

Unitarians really do have an incredible history both in Europe and the US. The more I study Unitarian history the more I find out a great number incredible people were Unitarians.

I am glad you found a welcome space in UU churches though!

Prioritize the lives of others over your own comfort. Do not worry about being liked while people are dying.

Silence supports the death dealing reality our government’s leaders are creating with bipartisan support.

Make no mistake, those who believe they are innocent in all of this because they haven’t played a part, are not innocent, they are a coward.

“That’s not what our churches are for.” “We are not supposed to be political at church!”

You cannot say that you stand with those on the margins while remaining silent in your pulpits and your pews.

What is worse is that even after things get to a certain point, where laws are being passed to deport black and brown people, that make it more and more illegal to be Trans in America, when we are dropping bombs on children paid for by our tax dollars, it is still largely silent.

If seminary had taught me anything, it’s they not enough people in the world are ok with being disliked. Because if we had voices who were louder before we reached moments of crisis, we might have been able to move before those crises happened.

Not forever, but for a few hours, a day, something, so I can better notice that those moments I have with my children are all the more sacred.

You’re enough. The game was rigged from the beginning. We live in a world that is dominated and controlled by exploited labor. The one thing I have found most helpful, whenever I am able to is to ask myself, “what can I put down to be here in this moment?”
