07.06.2025 01:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I made so many incredible connections and have so many great memories of that time. Quite honestly, I wouldnโt be in seminary now with out those folx who called me to be this interfaith Rev.
07.06.2025 01:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Over the past couple of weeks I have been thinking about how my ministry started with holding sacred space on Twitter during the early pandemic, for Pagans, Occult folx, and Christians. Having all sorts of incredible conversations, and even the Eucharist over zoom.

I cannot recommend it enough.
Lord your sense of humor does not escape me. This Unitarian was asked to preach on Trinity Sunday for my local Disciples of Christ congregation.
To God be the Glory and the wondrous humor!
'Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.'
Proverbs 21:13
We cannot ignore the cries of the poor and then pretend to be the light of the world.
I'm excited to talk with @EnfysBook.kind.social.ap.brid.gy about their book Queer Rites in a couple of weeks. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

15.05.2025 20:16 โ ๐ 65 ๐ 29 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 5What is needed, as has been the case, is nothing short of a revolution of everyday life.
15.05.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0How do we convince everyone that we have to stop living parasitically and move to more across the planet sustainable practices? If itโs too late to reverse the damage we have now, how do we motivate others to embody itโs still worth mitigating what we can?
15.05.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I havenโt read Boffโs eco work yet, but I imagine it has to cover something similar. Because nothing can be separated from the criticism of empire, and the criticism of the idea that infinite growth is possible in a very finite world.
15.05.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Can we take the Hegel and Marx criticism of the young Hegelians, and extend the analysis in a meaningful way that makes it so people are not only products of their environment, but also their lives are also influenced by environmental degradation?
15.05.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0My biggest challenge for all of this is how do move from saying every thing is sacred, or all spaces are sacred spaces to creating the cultural shift where this is a lived reality? I imagine for mass acceptance would have to come from a sort of materialism-transcendentalism of some sort.
15.05.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Being a Unitarian nerd and taking UU history and polity this semester is just a joyous ride.
Iโm very excited of course to cover more Unitarian ground but also excited to learn more about the history of our Universalist siblings.
I think full emersion would be my go to. Because ritually I think itโs an incredible symbol of washing away your the old in preparation to put on the new being. We are not to sprinkle the light of the world but to embody it wherever we may be.
15.05.2025 02:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Liberal political parties in the UK whining about not being welcome at Pride purely because they think they deserve to be there is a perfect case study of the liberal attitude to votes more generally ("every minority's fealty is owed to us up front no matter how many promises we break")

13.05.2025 17:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Unitarians really do have an incredible history both in Europe and the US. The more I study Unitarian history the more I find out a great number incredible people were Unitarians.

13.05.2025 17:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For clarification we are not affiliated with Unitarian Universalists, we are Unitarian Christians, like William Ellery Channing, Theodore Parker, Minot J Savage, Susan B Anthony and James Freeman-Clarke but to name a few.

13.05.2025 03:17 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Silence supports the death dealing reality our governmentโs leaders are creating with bipartisan support.
Make no mistake, those who believe they are innocent in all of this because they havenโt played a part, are not innocent, they are a coward.
โThatโs not what our churches are for.โ โWe are not supposed to be political at church!โ
You cannot say that you stand with those on the margins while remaining silent in your pulpits and your pews.
What is worse is that even after things get to a certain point, where laws are being passed to deport black and brown people, that make it more and more illegal to be Trans in America, when we are dropping bombs on children paid for by our tax dollars, it is still largely silent.
13.05.2025 03:17 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If seminary had taught me anything, itโs they not enough people in the world are ok with being disliked. Because if we had voices who were louder before we reached moments of crisis, we might have been able to move before those crises happened.
13.05.2025 03:17 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Pope Leo's first sermon and, uh, his using the phrase "be ever more fully a city set upon a hill" and cf'ing it to Rev 21:10 instead of any of the others before saying "many baptized Christians" are "living in a state of practical atheism" is. Well. Shots fired!

Not forever, but for a few hours, a day, something, so I can better notice that those moments I have with my children are all the more sacred.
12.05.2025 01:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Youโre enough. The game was rigged from the beginning. We live in a world that is dominated and controlled by exploited labor. The one thing I have found most helpful, whenever I am able to is to ask myself, โwhat can I put down to be here in this moment?โ
