This “well I WOULD like children if their parents were better” is absurd. Are there checked out parents? Sure. Is that a majority? No. It is developmentally appropriate for children to have different skills on average than adults. If children acting like children annoys you, you don’t like kids.

The literal only thing you know about my kids is that they’re children. Why would you assume they “act like assholes” in public? That’s … that’s literally what ageism means. And yes, it’s still ageism when you say “I don’t hate kids I just hate all the children I currently know.”

lol “allowed” is an interesting choice here - I don’t think it’s reasonable to assume children are any more likely to be jerks than anyone else. That said, children are learning to participate in public and are developmentally distinct from adults. Maybe to you that’s “being an asshole”?

Also not for nothing but some children (not all!) are exposed to more illness specifically because society makes limited provision for caregivers to care for their own kids when they’re sick. That’s a children’s rights issue, and you should view it as one, not conflate children with a disease.

What if I told you that children are also sometimes immune compromised, that age has nothing to do with the right to be protected from wellness, that sanitation access is a different and also important issue, and that assuming a group of people is “dirty” has a … really rough history?
