Actually, Americans are just like you. ~20-30% of them genuinely support fascism, as in ~every 🇪🇺 country. You are just more fortunate to have political institutions & a multiparty system that prevent that 20-30% from fully capturing the center-right party, becoming 51%, & controlling the government.
I should have spotted this earlier, but Trump always or almost always refers to NATO as "them", not "us". He doesn't regard the US as part of the alliance, apparently, so Russia invading one of NATO's neighbours & closest partners doesn't affect the US.
