Kiddo is 8 and largely unaware of <gestures broadly>. Some day he's going to understand and my heart aches for him.
I've seen too many copies of Animal Farm in the kids book section of the thrift store to agree with you. They're defanging the original story.
They're wrong, it's definitely Squeeze.
Well I'm a little annoyed that the senate passed it without a vote but hey, it's through!
The doomsayers can go jump off a cliff today. Elected officials will be forced to go on record. THIS is an issue with a lot of support across the political spectrum and I'm holding onto the hope that a no vote from a senator will have lasting consequences.
The races were all local afaik. A lot of dems made it onto city councils, school boards, trusteeships, etc even in contested races and red areas. The redistricting effort has just been pushed to January, unfortunately, and they might get the votes needed if people aren't watching as closely.
ACA extensions, Medicaid rollbacks...and I think there was a third, but everyone agreeing on the first point is still a huge deal.
Source? I'd love for this to be true.
This is the man who got mad because poor people don't go to the doctor until they're ER-level sick and used "The poor you will always have with you" (Matt 26:11) as a reason to reduce aid. He's up for re-election in 2026. Vote. Him. OUT.
Mine does neutral TV, too.
It. Is. Amazing.
Johnson will never pass anything in the house even if an ACA bill makes it through Senate. All of the other concessions could have been fought out in court. They had public sympathy in the polls. They gained nothing and lost momentum/goodwill.
Another vote for a healthy mix! There are so many wonderful picture books that address deep themes with incredible delicacy. And of course lighter, fluffier ones. My kiddo is an independent reader and still looks forward to bedtime picture books.
Now we just need to encourage them to VOTE!
One of the state-level reps is "Sympathetic to the idea that she doesn't represent kansas values" but they tried to redistrict her out of her seat in 2022 and it didn't work. Clearly she represents at least some of us.
I am willing to believe that unhinged violent gunmen would copycat bullet engraving.
I am not willing to believe sharpied "anti-ice" bullets released near immediately after the shooting are conclusive (or even legitimate) evidence for so, so many reasons.
We skip the Easter basket in favor of a Summer Basket - new bubbles, chalk, pool toys, goggles, etc. We get ice cream and reveal the basket on the last day of school.
I love our Ninja Foodi Flip combination air fryer/toaster oven.
More than 2500 in a KC suburb!
I grew up on KanCare! It's saved at least one family I know personally from crushing medical debt. I cannot imagine wanting a world in which we do not support the vulnerable, but apparently some people are cheering for it.
Note that this was two months ago - it's horrific but not happening concurrently with the protests.
ALSO bookmark nothing. Uninstall the apps. Make yourself use the janky mobile web version and type it in every time.
I hate it so much but apparently blockers work for me. Screen Zen does such a good job I actually donated to the creator. Forgetting where my phone is because ADHD helps too.
It's in my calls every. Single. Day. Still pissed.
They would love to have all their actions codified, you can't shut down something that isn't working, VOTE NO ON THE CLOTURE.
This.
This is what dystopia looks like.
Everyone who is going through your normal day without being affected by events, you're the people who are living in The Capitol in The Hunger Games.
Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt.
Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.
When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.
IT ISN'T EVEN THE FIRST TIME HE'S DONE THIS.
I just bought a club size package of string cheese.
How long do you think it'll take before my kiddo does not like string cheese, has NEVER liked string cheese, and is offended that I would even suggest he might have liked string cheese in the past?
