But their game is Project 2025's "gentle euthanasia." The goal is to reduce the population of the U.S. by 2/3.
Even if the very rich have better medical care, they still need food, though.
There's a lot of grind culture among lawyers. And yet, our rules require that we not try to handle too much work.
A friend is very vocal about keeping a small practice and giving away some kinds of work. It occurred to me that he's a much better lawyer for it.
You don't have to always be badass.
I write poetry when I feel like it. At some point, I'll collect the best and actually publish it somewhere.
Not having that as a pressure means I probably write about 50-70 poems year, probably ten or fifteen of which are really good.
It's my anti-grind authorship style.
If youβre not yet reading @xriskology.bsky.social on the creepy anti-human TESCREAL bundle of ideologies driving a lot of tech bros, you definitely should start (and subscribe, if you can). More of the madness infecting Silicon Valley needs to be exposed

I've been listening to a CLE on, "Becoming an Appellate Lawyer." As you might expect, there are several presentations on AI.
They said it's safe to let it write legal blog posts for you.

A cool thing in food aversion is that humans are very, very good at learning to become disgusted by food that has sickened them. The ones who didn't, died before having kids.
You literally have hundreds of thousands of years of ancestors telling you to never eat sushi again after having bad sushi
I'm just picturing all those people with inherited diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders, and any disability being declared "dead" for organ harvesting.
If you wanted to scare people away from organ donation, this is the way to do it.
For all of those in Blue States who are saying, "Just move."
In my case, a parent passed away, my partner's job dissolved, I'm settling an estate, and houses have or had to be sold, while I'm working my full time job.
And I hope someone will want a 23 year lawyer as an employee.
"Just move."

At least in the legal profession, itβs been outlawed a lot of places, because it writes fiction.
Westlaw sells AI that will write briefs. Iβve seen 5-7 page, two issue briefs from actual people that are much better than AI.

Fine gauge crotchet is more like lacework tatting and it is too finicky.

(The group that emptied my mother's house after her estate sale was retired state employees.)
Gen X is not going to do well when it's our turn.
The generations below us have had too little help to do anything but survive.

Having to go through all of my mother's stuff was dreadful. I remember standing in her garage a few days after she died, in tears.
Luckily, a friend recommended an estate saler, and we signed the contract for them to take almost everything.
Good estate salers are angels.
