Data centres; what if we could facilitate genocide, enable surveillance capitalism, and wreak untold environmental havoc globally *all at the same time*?!?

Spot on British military viewpoint: “By condemning one party and granting impunity to the other for the same crimes, we have effectively destroyed the system of international humanitarian law that emerged from the horrors of the Second World War.”

In 1942, the Nazis razed a town in an act of revenge, killing all the men and deporting all the women and children. The ruins of Lidice, Czechoslovakia, were covered with topsoil and fenced off. Like it had never been there.

ALEX DE WAAL: So, let me say that I've been working on this field of famine, food crisis and humanitarian action for more than 40 years, and there is no case, over those four decades, of such minutely engineered, closely monitored, precisely designed mass starvation of a population as is happening in Gaza today.

Few if any experts know more about the deliberate use of starvation as a war crime than Alex de Waal. If he says it's happening, it's so.

The BBC were celebrating the anniversay of Live Aid only days ago...
meanwhile the exact same kinds of photos, the exact same kind of death by starvation is coming out of Gaza ... and so little is done, no compassion, not calls for it to end...just banning of groups calling attention to it.

A very powerful essay by Holocaust scholar Omer Bartov, arguing that:
a) Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and
b) denying this threatens to "undermine everything that Holocaust scholarship and commemoration have stood for."

The Supreme Court decision that found this was subsequently found not to be compatible with the ECHR in O'Keeffe v Ireland. Funny how the DPER analysis left that out.

Forget the illegality. You don't even need one semester of law school to realize that.

Above all, the fact that in 2025 a defense minister of a sovereign state feels comfortable even saying such a thing out loud is a sign of a world utterly and completely broken.
