J-Talk: Extra Time

For me personally, I’ll probably skip the Levain Cup game at home to Kobe to help me to stay on budget for league game tickets (I’ll also things twice about watching both all 3 games against Kobe at the pub).

I could do them all, but it’s not really attractive as a value proposition!

Disappointing that tickets for both of Yokohama FC’s J1 home games next month will be the top-price ‘3 star’ category.

That means all of the last 5 home league games, & 6 of the last 7, have been set at the most expensive category.

More empty seats in home areas, & a less impressive atmosphere.

Attendance at Mitsuzawa tonight for Yokohama FC 1-2 Urawa in J1: a close-to-capacity 13, 048 (swelled by the usual noisy hordes from Saitama). #JLeague

All over at a mercifully breezy Mitsuzawa, & Yokohama FC have lost 1-2 against Urawa.

Hiiro Komori doubled the lead (53’), Yokohama DF Makoto Ito was sent off after picking up a 2nd yellow card (63’), & Adailton marked his debut with a brilliant last-gasp consolation goal (90+9’).

Half-time at Mitsuzawa, & Urawa lead Yokohama FC 1-0. Our new manager bounce lasted precisely 7 minutes before Hiiro Komori bundled the ball in on the goal line to put Urawa in front. The confident visitors have also hit the crossbar, while we have treated them like Brazil 1970 (no shots on target).

22:10 JST, & fireworks are still going off sporadically at Minatomirai after a fire pretty much destroyed one of the launching boats (things were supposed to be finished by 20:00).

Miraculously, it sounds like nobody was hurt!

really fantastic #JLeague game, huge repercussions at both ends of the table! Kumamoto get a vital 3 points to push themselves away from the bottom 3 while Mito fail to extend their lead over 2nd place!

Don't sleep on J2!

There was also an announcement on the local bus for upcoming Mito home games, voiced by a Hollyhock player (I missed which one because I was scrabbling frantically to find the exact change for the bus fare)!

#JLeague nerd report from Mito: a smattering of Kashima Antlers biscuits in the souvenir shop at the station, & no real evidence that Mito Hollyhock actually exists apart from this very nice mural inside the adjacent department store.
