Okay so everyone reports BUSCO scores of the genome assembly but what about the genome annotation? My expectation was if a genome has 99% BUSCO Complete that a good annotation should also be 99% BUSCO Complete, but a colleague just tested this on a reference genome and it was only 70%. Huh?

The Aleutian Arc: Integrated Exploration of Biodiversity at Hardbottom Habitats
💨The not-so-great: A few bad weather days kept us from launching Alvin safely.
🙌🏽The win: We made the most of it—mapping over 1,500 km (932 mi) of never-before-seen seafloor!
Trump administration cuts to NSF will result in more than 200,000 FEWER people per year involved in basic science, training, and education - what should have been the next generation of US scientists. This isn't even eating your seed corn, it is setting your seed corn on fire and salting the earth.
I don't think anyone outside of universities, pharma and biotech, independent research institutions have any idea of what is happening right now. If you haven't sounded the alarm among your friends, family and colleagues, now is the time to do it.
If you care about the NSF and science, now is the time to make your voice heard!
