Good thing we have such a strong history of holding people like this accountable.
When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.
But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.
A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.
I am so, *so* fucking proud of the work folks have done to unionize at Heart Machine. 🖤
This hits me way harder than any of the recent news about GDC
Absolutely hooked on Marathon. Despite the high-stakes reputation of the genre, every match feels relatively low stakes and chill. Thrilling, but not anxiety-inducing.
I wonder how many times we have to relearn this before it can become policy.
Finally.
Inside of me there are two wolves
Let’s see, a new pinned post maybe.
I am an illustrator and I also make pictures with my own hands for animation and games sometimes.
Got a haircut to momentarily distract from the horrors
I love all these!
The second you leave this country for even a few days, you realize the place you call home is decaying at an almost exponential pace. The realization that you don't have to live like this is stark, and that nobody in power is taking tangible actions to fix it in your lifetime is even starker.
This is a great story about game dev and burnout and really everyone should read it.
tech cultists have always been comically vulnerable to magical thinking but the degrees of delusion seem to be accelerating, brains are proper paste now
I lived through publishers telling me constantly that NFTs and Crypto games were the future and I needed to get on the train and design them or I'd be left behind.
I said NO.
I'll outlast "AI generated games" too. That's an oath.

I'm extremely lucky but also I find it unsettling that making music for games is literally the only thing I'm qualified to do.
The decline of right wing cultural production is just due to the fact that they don’t like culture, they like the signifiers of culture, ie “classic sculpture means white people are better.” They don’t like art at all except for this purpose. They don’t even like the nerd stuff they whine about
I loved Onslaught and at the time I thought for sure we'd see other games with that mode's structure.

Guess I need to get a robe like that and recreate the painting.
Crockett: "The US is falling apart, partially bc he's allowing for killings in the street, but also bc we have a 34 count convicted felon being shielded from any type of accountability as it relates to a child sex trafficking ring. I don't understand why we're pretending any of this is normal."
Yeah I'm somehow not close to either indie devs or game composers but I'm happy we can float in the void together
i think about this every day and the more history i learn, the truer it becomes
I think that like all large corporations that buy smaller companies, their goal is to slowly dismantle everything until there's nothing left except the Alamo Drafthouse "brand", attached to nothing, so they have a saleable asset that requires no upkeep.
I think the press is not talking enough about how the real reason Alamo implemented the new phone ordering system is so they can lay off more workers. Like, yeah it's antithetical to the Drafthouse vibe but I don't think that's the biggest issue here.
