I’m so happy to read this! I think that the reprint campaigns are so helpful in that they allow me to revive some out of print issues and loads of new people discover the mag in general. Getting word out about APWOT is always the hardest thing!

You’ll miss out on any rewards or patron privileges if you get from the site later, and I can’t say when I’ll get pre-orders on the site atm, but hopefully not too late next year.

Of course do what you need to do! Christmas is pricey.

That's my art he's holding up there! The craziest thing to see just before going to bed. Never would've thought I'd see the day where GCCX's kachō would be matching his head up with a piece of art I made for the lovely APWOT magazine...

A crop of Shinya Arino's head with a couple golden ratio arches centered on his left eye, and on the tie knot in the illustration of his interview in the newest issue of APWOT, and just seeing how the arches align with Arino's head.

We've added a new add-on reward to the kickstarter, a set of the APWOTipals stickers designed by our cover artist error403!

The apwotipals are a species of 'virtual pets' created for an article in issue 4. There are four sheets and each is printed on clear vinyl, so you can have fun placing them! πŸ’Ÿ

Did you know? APWOT originally started as a student zine all the way back in 2014! πŸ‘€

The original self made publication used a limited colour palette, came in two sizes, was about 20 pages and was made in just under 2 weeks. We've come a long way to having Astro Bot and Playstation on the cover! πŸ€–

I am vagueposting to myself because A Profound Waste of Time is a powerful read and anyone interested in gaming should read it. There’s a Kickstarter for Issue 6 right now. These are really well-written non-fiction magazines.

It goes Like this:
Six-year old me is sitting in front of an IBM 386's cathode ray tube monitor, staring at the rapidly blinking cursor in MS-DOS. I change some code in a tutorial file that was also a game, and fall in love with the idea that the act of typing words on a screen can create worlds.
I dedicated the next two decades of my Life to that pursuit.
Along the way, I accidentally became a public speaker, a teacher, a Lobbyist, an industry ambassador. and a tiny part of the story of ten of thousands of careers, games, anc stories in the game industry. I really enjoyed this essay by @ramiismail.com in the latest @apwot.bsky.social. This magazine is such a wonderful experience, from the writing to the extensive art to the thick card stock it’s printed on.
