my bar for happiness is lower than youβd think
but it doesnβt cover much
if anything, itβs pretty narrow
drilled a hole in the lid of my square cooker β¦fun
works as a steam vent too
but mostly i just like making my gear a little more mine
fun!
12.02.2026 10:10 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0brewing coffee and remembering why i love Evernew
the Ti 900 pot + their stove just look unfair together
that titanium blue hits different
and being able to set it straight on the ground?
kinda unbeatable
out of all the store-bought alcohol stoves, this oneβs still my #1
η±³stove
07.02.2026 03:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0with about 0.5 fl oz of fuel
it still puts out usable heat
and burns for at least 20 minutes
right now
that combination only exists
with a carbon felt stove
this integrated stand is made by roughly cutting a steel can
giving just enough bite
so even on a slope
the cooker stays put
the ground is rarely flat
stoves tip over sometimes
but carbon felt holds the fuel in place
keeping damage to a minimum
a pot stand that doesnt let the cooker slip
also matters a lot
the biggest advantage of a carbon felt stove
is that cold doesnt really matter
i mostly use my stoves in the mountains
so alcohol stoves that need long preheating
just arent an option for me
looks really good
even the mont-bell aluminum cooker feels right on it
tuning the burn for cooking rice
medium to strong to low
i built a three layer inner wall
each layer packed with carbon felt
trying to shape the burn curve
instead of just pushing more flame
make the burner wider
burn time drops right along with it
and the core stays firm again
not easy
but the trial and error is the fun part
up to two cups it cooks fine
beyond that the core stays raw
maybe it works with a full 1 fl oz
but once im over about 0.7 fl oz
evernew or trangia just makes more sense
the value of this CF stove
is cooking rice efficiently
with very little fuel
seems a bit underpowered
rice came out slightly firm in the center
to integrate it with the pot stand
i flipped an aluminum can upside down
so fuel capacity is limited
honestly this square mess tin
is really cute
not the rugged rectangular kind
this one feels softer somehow
still a tool with a bit of charm
the size doesnt try too hard
just sitting there it looks right
with a CF stove
the fit feels weirdly perfect
makes me want to cook rice
for no reason
trying to quantify the potential of a CF stove
kind of a reckless test
how much rice can i cook
with just 0.7 fl oz of fuel
testing a CF stove tuned just for cooking rice
0.4 fl oz fuel
1β5 min: low β medium
6β13: strong
13β20: low again
rice came out perfect!
adding an aluminum inner wall
and running the carbon felt as a double layer
seems to have made the difference
