𝐶𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑇𝑤𝑜 💕

So, I jinxed myself pretty hard when I said I was finally being consistent.

Real life has gotten super heavy lately. This is the last update I had finished and ready to post, and it'll be the last update for a little while (hopefully not too long) until things settle down a bit.

She refused to shy away or back down just to spare Cade’s feelings. Instead, she stared with gritted teeth until Cade eventually looked away.

“Just thought I’d ask,” he muttered, retreating from the table and Autumn’s harsh gaze. “Offer’s there if you change your mind.”

Cade grimaced for just a moment, but he didn’t let Autumn’s refusal stop him. “You might like it. Might help you chill out a little.”

“Doubt it,” she sighed. Watcher, she hoped Kit couldn’t hear this.

“They’ve got a pretty nice art collection,” he shrugged. “If you’re free tomorrow–”

“I’m not.”

The blonde opposite fell silent for a moment, tapping his fingers on the table as he contemplated his next move. “There’s a museum. Here, in Oasis Springs.”

“Okay?”

“We should go.”

“Together?”

“Yeah.”

“Like… A date?”

“Yep.”

“𝙉𝙤.”

Again, something like awe flickered across Cade’s face. “You really are full of surprises.”

“Now y’know why I’m doin’ my homework at lunch. Too busy creatin’ a masterpiece,” she snorted, rolling her eyes. She hated everything she tried to paint recently. Nothing turned out like she hoped it would.

Autumn seethed as Cade chuckled. What was it gonna take to get this guy to leave her alone?

“You need to relax.”

“Ain’t any good at that.”

“Really? I’m 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘥,” he teased, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “What d’you do for fun when you’re not playing cheerleading cowgirl?”

“I paint.”

She couldn’t focus. Cade’s attention was firmly back on her, and she felt herself blushing under the weight of his stare.

“We’ve got more in common than I thought,” he murmured.

“No, we don’t.”

“We’re both twins.”

“Loadsa people are twins.”

“We both look hot in green–”

“Watcher, shut 𝘶𝘱.”

Cade’s head spun to look at her, eyes wide. “You’re a twin, too?”

“Elle’s his best friend. She’s at our house all the time.”

“Poor you,” he snickered.

Autumn shrugged and turned back to her homework. She really didn’t want to get into a conversation about her friends– 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘳 friends.

“Pink t-shirt,” Cade answered. “Maddie. We’re twins. The other girl with black hair is my cousin, Elle.”

Autumn paused, considering how much she should give away. “Yeah, I know Elle,” she admitted.

“Huh?! How?”

“See the weird guy with reddish hair?”

“Yeah?”

“That’s 𝘮𝘺 twin.”

“Just surprised my sister’s found some even bigger losers to hang out with, that’s all.”

Autumn risked glancing over. “Which one is she?” she asked, although she could work it out. There was only one person she didn’t know– the girl who’d stolen her seat next to Kit on that first day.

She shouldn’t bite, but she had to admit she was curious about what he’d seen. She’d tried her best not to look over in case she’d caught Kit’s eye, and he’d taken it as an invitation. “What?”

“Thought you wanted quiet?”

“Well, you’re obviously desperate to annoy me, so you might as well talk.”

“I told you. I’m busy.”

“I could help–”

“I don’t need help. I need time, and some damn quiet.”

“I can do quiet,” Cade said, miming zipping up his lips.

To Autumn’s surprise and relief, he kept his word, his attention drawn to the table next to them. He huffed a quiet laugh and shook his head.

“What the hell,” Cade muttered, half dazed, half amused. “Are you always this uptight?”

“Pretty much,” she grumbled, stopping to collect her half-finished homework. She groaned as she saw Cade taking a seat.

“Physics? Isn’t that due next period?”

“𝘠𝘦𝘴.”

“Aren’t you leaving it kinda late?”

Cade jogged across the dusty courtyard. “I didn’t mean to!”

“Keep your balls away from me in future,” Autumn spat, the smirk that crossed Cade’s face only annoying her more.

“Sure. Can I have that one back at least?”

“Yep.” She pulled her arm back as if she were drawing a bow, and fired.

“𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺?!” she hissed to herself as her homework scattered, and Scottie and Skye giggled.

There was a whole football field just a few steps away, who would be throwing a ball here, where people were trying to–

Of course.

“My bad.”

Why did Scottie and Skye have to pick the table next to 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮?

She’d tried to ignore how Kit’s jaw dropped when she’d hopped off the school bus earlier, and the way his eyes had burned into the back of her head during Simlish class.

Lunch was almost over. She just had to–

𝙏𝙃𝙒𝘼𝘾𝙆!

Autumn’s rushed scribbles danced around the page as she tried to make sense of her homework.
The courtyard was sweaty and loud, and her head already felt stuffed to bursting point from her morning classes. Not to mention, she was painfully aware of the familiar dark eyes looking her way.

Now wasn’t the time to think about that; she had new friends, a new hobby, and today she’d turn heads as she walked through the halls.
She blew a kiss to her dad, fended off the pleas for a photo from her mom, snatched a piece of fruit from the dining table, and dashed out the door.

She could have hugged her dad for that.

It hadn’t felt like many people were on her side lately. Austin despised her as always, Annie was too busy with her own friends, she’d barely spoken to Kit since their first day at Oasis High…

Okay, that last one 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 have been her fault. Maybe.

“That ain’t Autumn,” Annie giggled through a mouthful of cereal. “That’s a clone.”

Austin nodded, glaring at his twin with even more disgust than usual. “Kinda impressed that you found a way to look even bitchier–”

“𝙃𝙚𝙮!” Teddy snapped. “Don’t use that word. ‘Specially not ‘bout your sisters.”

Her dad glanced over, his brows shooting skywards in shock. He opened his mouth to speak, but Autumn didn’t need to hear it to know what he had to say; 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦-𝘶𝘱, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵…
Teddy must have read her mind, and he turned back to the coffee machine. “Yup,” he grumbled. “Very nice.”

Walking downstairs to breakfast felt more like stepping out onto the stage of a sold-out stadium, and she shrank under the stares from her family.

“Autumn!” her mother breathed, eyes lighting up. “You look so grown-up! Doesn’t she look pretty, Teddy?”

Autumn winced as she pulled her ponytail a little tighter. She already hated the sticky gloss she’d just slicked over her lips, and the cheap, stiff fabric of her new uniform rubbed uncomfortably against her skin.
For the millionth time that morning, she questioned what the hell she was doing.

She is! I wondered if anyone would spot that! 👁️👁️
