I’m on the advisory board of @StationDC & I’m excited about the work they’re doing to help build the next generation of industry in DC.

They’re hiring a Venue Experience Coordinator to support the people and spaces where that work happens.

Now live in @dclinenews.bsky.social : Graduation requirements should prepare students for the world they are entering, not the one we wish still existed.

DC schools outperform pre-pandemic in ELA in new OSSE report Office of Superintendent of Education says DC schools are back on track since the pandemic.

This growth reflects the shift to structured literacy & evidence-based methods. Still, too many students remain below grade level. I'm committed to continuing the work until all kids can read confidently.

Proud of all the incredible Ward 2 seniors I’ve gotten to know this past year, including this Basis DC grad headed to New York as a software developer intern. Whether it’s college, the workforce, or another adventure, there’s more than one road to success.

Ward 2 will miss you!

I'm also hearing calls for fewer required methods (e.g. letting 2nd grades master one way to subtract under 100 before introducing other methods) & more support to review the concepts they're expected to teach (e.g. polynomial review for a 1st time algebra II teacher).

So you know me as the #literacy guy, but let's add something to the equation. I've talked to over 50 math educators across DC. Mixed reviews on Eureka. Some teachers love it, others feel strongly it's not working.

A top ask from Ward 2 families? More advanced classes.

In response, @dcsboe.bsky.social hosted a panel on expanding rigorous options for DC students.

One idea: virtual AP & IB. What do you think?

WorldPride in Washington, D. C.: Trotz alledem Der US-Präsident schürt Hass gegen die LGBTQ-Community. In Washington zeigt die WorldPride Parade Solidarität – trotz weltweiter Angst und Unsicherheit.

“DC is a very special place.”

I told @zeit.de that during #WorldPrideDC @capitalpridedc.bsky.social because while Pride is under fire elsewhere, DC students, DC parents & DC teachers asked DC schools to teach LGBTQ history.

And @dcsboe.bsky.social said yes. Unanimously.
