For spooky season I thought maybe I'd watch the entire Ju-on franchise, including some recent entries I haven't seen. Two shorts and three and a half movies in, I'm already questioning if I want to spend the next week watching more of these. Maybe I switch to scarecrow or Jack the Ripper movies?

But there’s one that’s going to be worth it.

I think the physical copy I’m getting soon will include annotations about the adaptation, which I’m curious to read. There are some anachronisms, like the use of the term “pick-up artist."

I just saw The Final Terror on The Last Drive-In (@therealjoebob123.bsky.social @crobertcargill.bsky.social ), and you can see some of the same DNA in the story, like the idea that you had to have a shocking twist at the end no matter if it makes sense.

I got my digital copy of Ripped to Shreds, a graphic novel based on an un-produced slasher movie script from 1980. It’s good! It’s basically a bunch of amusingly unlikely red herrings, until the very ridiculous (in the best way) reveal at the end.

I’m seeing all this doomsday stuff over Tilly Norwood, but… Is she completely AI? If so, can her likeness and voice be copyrighted? Can’t anyone just make a Tilly Norwood and put it in a movie?

Battle Queen I think I saw, but I can’t remember anything about it, and an internet search reveals that no else can either, other than that DVD cover.

There’s no reason to remake any of these. All these plots are available for free, and there is no name recognition on these titles.

Roger Corman Cult Classics to Get Remake Treatment From Clever Creature (EXCLUSIVE) — Variety Clever Creature has optioned remake rights to three titles from the Roger and Julie Corman library through its sister company Fast Motion Films.

The really funny part about that exchange between Thiel and Rogan is that when Thiel reveals he was Epstein’s guest Rogan immediately chips in with, “But this was before he was convicted the first time,” and Thiel responds, “Uh no, it was after,” and Rogan just lets that go.

I believe that on Rogan’s podcast Thiel said he only met Epstein once, and they talked about how to avoid taxes. That entry certainly doesn’t look like a first meeting. I’m beginning to think this Thiel guy may be shady.
