I'm glad for what she's doing on housing, but she's bad on affordable childcare & transportation. She hasn't really moved the needle on the lackluster approach to education from @oregondems.bsky.social who are also pretty bad on transportation; tho to their credit they didn't support killing PFA.

Ugh, she is such a disappointment!

She used to live in my precinct, but she has sold us out to cater to the billionaires, mere millionaires and the business lobbyists.

If you've ever been to a naturalization ceremony, you know they're filled with people whose palpable love of this country is twenty times stronger than the pinched "patriotism" of any native-born MAGA chud.

She burned a lot of bridges carrying water for the Tim Boyles of the world who wanted her to try and kill voter-passed (by 60%+) Preschool for All, and for not being able to get a good transportation bill through the legislature. She needs to make amends for those failures if she wants to win.

From my interactions as a parent & volunteer for the last 6 years, besides lack of funding for schools in general, I think a lot of the problems are contained within the HQ office, and this seems like confirmation of bigger issues that slow down good board policy & good teacher/school level work.

Stop listening to people like Tim Boyle, they are leading you towards the billionaire agenda and away from what your constituents want and need!

Woke up this morning and my Samsung phone said there was no SIM card. Finally went into my #ATT store and they switched me to an e-SIM and said device manufacturers including Apple were just randomly frying people's SIM cards to get them to switch to eSIM.

There is generally too much outreach in this city which prioritizes the voices of those who have the flexibility to show up in public meetings. But, to delegate more decision-making power to administrators, you need to have a very good and transparent process for selecting people to administer.

The Mayor is turning out to be an ineffective public executive despite (or likely because) his experience is in a private business.

It's far more effective and beneficial for her stated goal to see where improving quality of life for the people who live here matches up with solving challenges businesses face. The report mentions childcare costs, a huge challenge for both families here & businesses which she tried to re-break 🤯🤡.

It is frustrating to watch @tinakotek.bsky.social fall down the same holes as so many state governors when business comes to tell them our taxes our too high. They do that to EVERY STATE, and it's a zero sum game to negotiate.

Improving preschool access will make OR appealing to families & will improve K-12 educational outcomes. It makes the issues and solutions @tinakotek.bsky.social prioritized seem wrong-headed. She's listening too much to a narrow group of people who got a $$$$ Trump tax cut & whine about ¢¢¢ for P4A.

The idea of reducing small local taxes for high income ($250k+) income families by killing Preschool for All violates the plan's "do no harm" principle.

Also, are 100% affordable buildings as well as the limited locations where they've been allowed, producing bad outcomes related to increasing income segregation vs focusing on providing housing wherever there is room and aiming for more mixed-income neighborhoods & buildings?

I imagine the argument against vouchers is there would be a fear it drives rental inflation, but arguably a higher vacancy rate is doing the same thing if subsidized rents are still too high for the people who need housing.

Here is a FAQ sheet that will clarify what Portland City Council does and doesn't have power to do in relation to revoking the Macadam ICE permit.

TL;DR:
(1) CC cannot unilaterally revoke the ICE permit;
(2) CC cannot lean on PP&D to do it;
(3) the CC is exercising its authority in other ways.

Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
