I did a run, it was also a test stream to see how things would go with me now using Linux more. And it was a success! The run however, New Blood is brutal, even on Easy.
I'll try and do another run somewhat soon :) Would recommend following on Twitch if you want to see runs live.
Just spent the past 3 days, maybe more, trying to figure out an intermittent hitch in audio playback. Turns out, it was a loopback I set with PulseAudio, when I *should* have done it via Pipewire.
Glad that's fix at least
For the past few days I've been practising some more New Blood, so I might try and do a run of it somewhat soon - I want to push Easy down a little further since it's still slower than Normal.
This game really isn't kind to your hands...
@rieke.lt pointed out yet another edge-case for the Sleeping Dogs autosplitter, but I don't think I'll bother to fix it. Another runner has made another ASL script that also covers the DLC with more robust logic.
It needs testing, but I can see it replacing the script I slaved over.
I thought the biggest pitfall I'd experience with Linux is certain games being a pain to run. I was wrong, it's Davinci Resolve. The audio codecs I could work around, but I'd lose out on hardware encoding which is rough...
With BSG (sadly) over, I think I'll spend the coming weeks getting my PC and/or laptop Linux ready.
Then after migrating I'll look into some more offline runs - I think the 'pressure' of streaming is putting me off doing runs which I know I'll enjoy
I've been pretty offline with IRL stuff, but #BSGPlus2026 is just around the corner, and I'll be donning the doctor's attire for an SO showcase 13:45 UTC on January 19th.
Here's hoping I can shoot for another sub 1:20 time. It'll be live on BSG's twitch, and I'll try to post right before the run.
Practice for #BSGPlus2026 went about as expected. The patient lives, by technicality!

I figured I'd play some Warzone, but I've been so out of the loop that I missed it needs secure boot enabled.
Excellent use of my bandwidth to download all of that... saves over 100GB storage though.
Didn't take long for somebody to improve the time, I'll come back to SD when I have a bit more time. GG to MadDavid
Hit up Sleeping Dogs DE Any% one last time before I get really busy with life, and sniped the WR. Huge.
Went a bit faster in #CuttingEdgeROM, messed up the Larson op with ordering. Sub 12 seems doable but I think I'll let somebody else take that milestone.
Decided to do a #CuttingEdgeROM run for the fun of it. So much more menuing than I expected.
No idea what happened with my comparison, but five minute timesave over PB! Absolutely huge timesave, WR is not far away
Turns out that it's possible to complete some missions so fast you bypass the objective checks. Given this is not the first time, I'm gonna re-write some logic instead of adding three more exceptions lol
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition Auto Splitter is finally uploaded and available for wider use :) Happy that it is finally all done, it took quite some work and a lot of help from a friend to wrap my head around some logic.
Now to find another project...
Well it's more so to do with mapping a Wiimote as a mouse/cursor. I've come from playing Trauma Center on the Wii for hundreds of hours and have no issue with being precise there. But this is at a higher resolution with higher tolerances. The game is also inheriently stricter on sutures (for score)
I tried this for myself, and holy moly this was hard. Coming from Trauma Center on the Wii, this requires a new level of precision.
Grinding C-1 in CE:ROM to get 2nd was not easy.
There was certainly a few moments where I felt like I was fighting to get my inputs down and had to be very, very precise when it didn't feel necessary. Though I didn't feel this as much when just playing the op more casually
Finally cleared the rest of the CE:ROM demo, and it definitely got more interesting gameplay wise! Really happy to see different kinds of operation other than "yank this tumour out" with different art.
Definitely have some feedback from a speedrun perspective to help smooth out some things 👀
A couple more episodes into the demo, and I some how managed to snipe 1st on 1-3. Not sure how to feel about pausing to be able to identify the puzzle solution without losing time, but it is what it is.
Been enjoying trying to optimise in CE:ROM so far. Making some notes on feedback 👀
The dev of Cutting Edge: Roots of Mutation, @wizbirdgames.com, dropped me a demo key and I'm already on the grind. No idea how Sub 20s was achieved (figured out with the help of friends that it is the legendary Surefire Tactics).
Classic 1-1 being surprisingly hard to optimise.
Runs learned: Around 25
Best Place: 1st (My Summer Car, Various Trauma Center categories)
Worst Place: 155th (Portal Glitchless)
Longest run: Trauma Team Easy (~4hr)
Shortest run: Portal Glitchless (17m35s)
Most fun: Trauma Center: New Blood Coop (hard to pick!)
Least fun: LoZ: TP Master Sword
Pushed my Sleeping Dogs run down by 15 minutes! Really happy with this improvement, a few tricks still to learn and overall better gameplay, but I think I will let it rest (pun intended) for now.
Discovered there's an EnhancedSC patch for Splinter Cell (the first one) with an extra difficulty that's even harder and a Permadeath mode. So I think I'll give it a shot on stream 👀
Would love to try Linux, but given how much speedrunning I do and seeing that LiveSplit hasn't been developed for it, looks like I'll have to hold off.
Wondering what'll come in the run up to Win10 end of support
Seeing Clair Obscur and how incredible beautiful it is makes me think of how the likes of, say, Final Fantasy X would look if remade with today's technology.
I know it was already remastered for PS3, but the graphical technology has leaped so far it's not comparable.
I'm realising that I haven't been streaming, especially IL attempts, much recently. Would like to get back to it, but I haven't had the will to grind out a category.
If more ILs come up I want to beat/improve, I'll try and stream it again. Typically I grind them for like 15-30 minutes per IL.
New Sleeping Dogs any% PB! Sub 4, yay! Did this with a race with some friends, was a lot of fun. Timeloss on random spots as usual. Probably will let this sit for now, don't want to grind this too much
