My loose info so far is that the Minneapolis General Strike today had about 80 unions sign on, and it might be one of the biggest labor actions in decades depending on your definition

Your Friendly Neighborhood Resistance On the ground in Minneapolis, watching out for ICE at every corner, crosswalk, church, and school.

I know @kerryhowley.bsky.social is at the top of her game & able to make choices many writers can't but oh my god does she make some capital-J journalists look stupid for fetishizing an objectivity that means "no conscience" & thinking that's what makes them good at the job nymag.com/intelligence...

The world should come to a screeching halt.

Federal officials keep telling the public to stay away from their immigration enforcement actions and also keep brutally assaulting people in broad daylight, leaving the public the only ones to hold them accountable.

The public does not trust DHS to behave civilly or legally.

Art of Tortuguita amidst plants, a sunrise, and forest. Texts says TORT 1996-2023. "The abolitionist mission isn't done until every prison is empty. When there are no more cops, when the land has been given back, that's when it's over. I don't expect to live to see that day, necessarily. I mean, I hope so. But I smoke."

Three years ago today, Georgia state police murdered Tortuguita as part of their drive to destroy the Weelaunee Forest and build a deadly police militarization center.

Tort fought for a world without police and capitalism, and so should we. Viva, viva Tortuguita.

Against Babel: Or, How to Talk to Strangers - Public Books Allegedly, some 45% of languages descend from one, ancient ”Proto-Indo-Europeanβ€œ tongue. But why focus on a hypothetical lost language, when we can work instead to hear one another today?

β€œWhat would such an antigenealogical, transcendent philology that I’ve called for here look like? One example might be found in Jennifer Scappettone’s Poetry After Barbarism.”

Grateful for this gorgeous analysisβ€”also a rallying cry in a time of gloom: "Scappettone offers the ultimate rejoinder to both Auerbach & Said...[O]ur languageβ€”our homeβ€”must also be planetary & cosmic, escaping the entrapments that make an internationalized earth just another vestige of the state."

Jennifer Scappettone's Poetry After Barbarism is an all-timer btw, inarguably one of the most delicious, meaningful treatments of language and the stateless I've encountered. Review could have also just been: read this, seriously.

Why is Venezuela’s gold still frozen in the Bank of England? Four years ago, the UK government recognised Juan GuaidΓ³ as Venezuela’s president. He’s now gone, but the Bank of England is still holding some of the country’s key assets.

Reminder that the UK is illegally withholding gold reserves essential to Venezuela’s economy. It has been looted from over and over: oil, gold, lithium . Blood is on the hands of not only the US regime but the whole west’s. Via @declassifieduk.org

Big congrats to the Nobel Committee for awarding the prize "for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy" just so she could immediately conspire with a foreign government to murder civilians on the high seas then invade and stage a coup.

This is not the first US imperial atrocity for oil β€”let’s not exceptionalize itβ€” but wow is is it awful. And the violation of Venezuelans domestically in the name of a sovereign borders they actually dgaf about.

As Aimee Cesaire put itβ€” the price of imperialism is the empire’s own civilization.
