And just as with any art, "good" TL is completely subjective... It can be really bad too... But again, AI/MTL, besides being shit quality all around, has no intent... it just fucks things up & there's no way to reach the person responsible bc there is none... /END RANT im v pissed & passionate

one of my linguistics professors said "translation is an art, not a science" and I'll never forget that....
Translation really is an art... It can be so beautiful when done well... the best translators are writers themselves, just like the author...

While the chance of losing things along the way is high (and no human is perfect), good translation that accurately captures the original meaning, intent, spirit, humor, etc in a natural & seamless way in another language... It's such a beauty to behold....
And all that is lost with AI/MTL....

Just as each line is written with intention, each line is translated with intention as well. With each line, a decision is being made. Things are lost, things are gained... Sometimes, too much is lost, or mistakes are made... But (aside from errors), behind every TL choice there is human intent. -

The author writes with intention, and the translator translates with intention as well... The author has a voice, and it's the translator's job to get that voice across to the reader as naturally & accurately as possible- but the translator also necessarily puts in their own voice as well.-

AI/machine translation..... while it can be useful in day to day life like translating tweets... it should never ever be used for creative works... whether that be books, games, comics...
because the most important thing with art & writing, and the translation of such, is "intention"...

such a betrayal of trust.... to think i used to request TWSB & 내스급 in their licensing request form every month..... get the fuck away from them with your AI......

can i just say i loved noi.... his movements were so beautiful and elegant to watch... and peak chara design...

didnt expect to cry that much but it was genuinely rly touching... had to get tissues... and the animation..... Wow. genuinely some of the BEST animation i've ever seen... it was truly gorgeous... a visual feast... JUST 10/10 both the story and visuals were beautiful so it was a satisfying watch...
