Women's basketball fans/media... do yourself a favor and resist checking the forecast in Phoenix
Best part of non-con play is seeing these smaller schools live and gaining massive appreciation for their game and effort. Southern Jaguars I will always be a fan.
I was vocal about how much I thought having more women's sports available to bet on would be big for growing engagement/viewership. What I didn't account for was that it would proportionally increase the negativity and toxicity towards the players/sport as a whole.
hand up for me on this as well.
I was pro-legalization for a bunch of reasons that were naive in retrospect and I sent way too many "I'm betting on an obscure sporting event 🤪🤪🤪 and you can too!" posts
I didn't anticipate how quickly gambling would rot through everything it touched
The SWAC tournament is always so fun
See they finally realized how poorly this would reflect on them if it were repeated in the mens tournament.
Yes I was there hence the "two weeks," I really was convinced they would swap courts after the women's tournament because of how clear the issues were but why would they pay any attention to what happened during the women's tourney 🥴
LOL WELLP
Two weeks of watching defenders literally slide by players on this godforsaken floor, congrats to the Big 12 on topping their hideous court from last year with this glass abomination
Every time I see the commercial that goes "Gambling is fun!" I expect it to turn into a PSA but no, that's just a statement they use before trying to sell beard dye 🤦♀️
"Win, win" would've been not pushing off counteroffers and negotiations to the point of seriously jeopardizing the season because you're mad the players didn't roll over and accept whatever crumbs you offered but sure
This game came down to a game-winning free throw for Kansas State btw
That's the thing- both teams are impacted, so it may not be making a huge impact on outcomes (though teams that have played already at least get used to the feel, I don't think it does a lot) but it's making for some really gross basketball
Jadyn Wooten faceplanting as she tries for the last shot of the half in a tight game because the Big 12 decided the conference tournament was the time to try out a court material that shouldn't exist. Nice!
21-0 run over the final almost eight minutes of play for Kansas State to take down Texas Tech to kick off day two of the Big 12 tourney, best time of the year and it ain't close
If i could only be so organized
They're one of the toughest teams for me to call games for because I tend to recognize people for their face/hair easier than memorizing numbers and there are... a lot of blonde ponytails
In reality the LED court should open so many cool doors but we shall see what actually gets used
The only chance the Big 12 has to compete with the incredible art of the ACC conference tournament court design is to allow me to connect my tablet to the digital floor and go to work
"didn't shoot down any $90M airplanes today" is setting a whole new floor at work for all of us

$300 million mistake
That's the same cost as 25,000 Head Start slots

About to clip that Kim Mulkey "This is not good basketball" for some heavy run
I'm actually really impressed by the Bella Hines arc as of late: got basically no run in big games until volunteering herself for a tough defensive assignment when the team was struggling, helped turn the tide of the game and had Kim giving her props post-game, now broken into the regular rotation.
Consistent Cullen content (cultent?) on my feed again is the best thing about finally switching over from the forsaXen place
A good day to have hope that my pursuit of a future in academia won't be for nothing
