My most consistent period of writing was probably seventh and eighth grade when I spent each class writing a fantasy novel instead of listening in class. Still got a 4.0 too.

What if there’s no such thing as authenticity

As a younger man I imagined, foolishly of course, that the point of industry was to make Enough. And when everyone had everything they needed we’d just all chill. I guess the enshittification of everything that we see now is maybe a sign that the endless chilling was actually on the horizon, once.

I think part of my fascination with mid-century design is that the people making these modular, adaptable, multi-use pieces of furniture and homes seemed almost utopian in their aims. “Let’s make beautiful, ergonomic, inexpensive, and mass produceable chairs that everyone can afford and enjoy!”

I think it’s adorable when my three year old calls me by my first name

I feel bad she won’t get the same Internet I did growing up, flawed as it was.

My biggest failure as a parent thus far has been the amount of time she has seen me on my phone.

I feel like keeping my kid off the internet will be easy. “There’s no people there. It’s just words that make you feel bad. If you want to look at a screen and feel bad, here’s my steam deck and Elden Ring, go nuts kiddo.”

Honestly I think I just need to find a ttrpg group to play with so I’m not shackled by programming

Incredibly close to finishing Baldur’s Gate 3. And I’m unsure if I want to go right into another play through or what. I have like 3-6 hours of video game time a week on average. Do I wanna spend another 18 months on the same game? Who’s to say.

I love routinely telling my child “no we can’t play outside because the air is unhealthy to breathe,” it’s super great. Thanks world. No notes.
