Beat DK Bananza last night. It was absolutely worth the 26 year wait for the next 3D DK game. Easily one of Nintendo's best single player experiences

Also shoutouts to attending 3 concerts during SGDQ week (Babymetal/Jinjer/Bloodywood, The Megas, and another one at a restaurant by chance, not sure who the artist was). It's been the year of music concerts for me

Nope but we got two thirteen orphans within a 6 hour time period by two separate people.

Other highlights include me getting a 72k point game and @altabiscuit.bsky.social coming all the way back from 6k points to 40k points in South 4 (4 repeats) to win by 100 points after knocking someone below 0

Got home a few hours ago from SGDQ. Never feels like there's enough time to do everything I want to at these, but that's also what keeps bringing me back. Hoping I can make it out to AGDQ 2026 to do it all over again!

From what I can tell from the Direct today, DK Bananza looks like an absolutely fire game. Even if the game isn't great, they certainly did a good job making it look amazing. I will be streaming this the day it drops.

Someone brought up in the comments if we knew about sub-strafing at this point. I talked this over with a couple SRL members and I don't believe it was a thing in the western scene until the very end of S1's lifespan. I don't remember implementing it in my gameplay until S2.

That looks like one of my S1 builds and I was playing up until the very end before the servers shut down, so that is very likely me

Bunny hopping is now a thing in DK64. Currently seems to be only applicable in a couple scenarios due to needing a specific and somewhat long (for what you're getting out of it) setup to make it work
